  The service is great, and the servers are all so friendly! The atmosphere is lively and energetic. I have a couple issues, though: I never choose to eat here on my own; it’s always my friends’ choice to eat here. This is because I end up in pain and discomfort afterwards (ie, several 20 minute bathroom trips after eating). This has happened the last three times I’ve been to La Cantina, and it’s really unfortunate. I don’t order foods that would upset my stomach, as someone who is very conscious about their dietary restrictions. I have ordered the same exact foods at other restaurants in town and been just fine. For this reason, I always dread coming here, and this is what ultimately led me to write this review. My other issues are very minor, but it is sometimes difficult to make a reservation via phone because of how loud the restaurant is inside. Lastly, I always wear clothing that I plan to change out of because I end up smelling like steam/smoke from the kitchen when it’s running at its peak (during lunch or dinner rushes).

  THE ONLY PLACE IN BROOKINGS I WILL GO FOR MEXICAN FOOD. This place has awesome food and good customer service. They have a great interest in serving their customers and making sure their dining experience is rememberable. The food comes out hot and fast. And you won't regret the mango margarita on the rocks.

  I ordered a meal of a cheese steak with no onions. Simple order. And they brought me my food with excessive onions. So i politely said “i ordered this with no onions” and i dont like confrontation but I cannot eat onions. Then they brought me back my cheese steak and i started eating it, and there was still multiple onions on it. So they not only disregarded my simple request of no onions, but ignored me when i asked for no onions the second time. I am very dissapointed and unwell because of it. Terrible and unacceptable service.

  Off the wall amazing!!!! The margaritas was amazing. The daiquiris were even more amazing. I live in Sioux Falls and come to Brookings somewhat often. This is now my new go to. The service was immediate as soon as we walked through the door, somebody asked us how many people we were needing seated. Not even two minutes after being seated, the waiter came up, asked us for drinks was very patient with us. Came back to the table often to check on us. My girlfriend is a very picky eater. They made her order with no judgment smiled, laughed with us. Food came out hot, tasted amazing, even decided to stay for dessert. Extremely amazing atmosphere. Will be back!!!
