It all started with a promise and from there it was built on a vision. Gaetano Gravino was a hairstylist who had found part time work at a doughboy shack in Oakland Beach. This part time work turned into an opportunity that spoke to his entrepreneurial spirit – the same spirit that lives on in his wife and children: Sally, MaryAnn, David, and Guy. When the chance came to lease the establishment, Gaetano and his wife Sally took it. And in 1989, Iggy’s Doughboy and Chowder House was born – coined after a nickname given to him by his son, David. The featured dish at the time was the red chowder – the recipe a family secret created by Sally herself.

- CCCynthia CioccoMay 11, 20263.0Went to Iggy‘s in Warwick on Mother’s Day, food all tasted good, but one of us got a chicken cutlet sandwich and there was a tiny little strip of chicken in it so small, that was unacceptable. But the worst part was there are no tables they’ve taken out some of the booths inside and even on the covered outside patio/porch there were only a couple of tables. It’s almost all empty, they’ve taken out most of the seating. I can understand if they did that for the winter time but it’s now May and we’ve had two major holidays, Easter and Mother’s Day, which they should have returned those tables. They had to expect that it would be crowded. I’m sorry that wasn’t right!!

No refund, no proper apology from Iggy's. This happened today (Wednesday 4/29/2026) so it's not as if this mistake happened at the height of an intense dinner rush. I've come here on occasion for many years but one incident like that is one too many. I don't roll the dice when it comes to seafood. Our families won't be eating here again.
