Heng Thai & Rotisserie is easily one of the best Thai restaurants in Providence, RI. And honestly, I don’t need to hype this place up too much — it has already been well known for years and has been serving Providence since 2017.
They have a great variety of Thai dishes, and so many of them represent the flavors people love about Thai food. Their grilled chicken with papaya salad, Pad Kra Pao, Thai Style Tom Yum Noodle Soup, and many other dishes are all worth trying.
But for me, there is one dish I order almost every single time I come here: Crispy Pad Thai.
What makes it so good is the texture. You get these hot, crispy fried noodles contrasting with the softer Pad Thai ingredients like bean sprouts, scallions, egg, chicken, and especially the shrimp, which are really plump and firm. Then everything gets coated with that rich Pad Thai sauce and topped with crushed peanuts.
When you get a little bit of everything in one bite, it just works — crispy, soft, juicy, sweet, tangy, savory, and nutty all at the same time. The flavors and textures come together so well that every bite feels like a little explosion of flavor in your mouth.
That’s exactly why I keep ordering it every time I come back.
Heng is also known for their Thai iced tea, which is really good, but on the day I visited, it was almost 90°F outside, so I wanted something a little more refreshing.
I went with this huge lemonade, and it was exactly what I needed. Cold, fragrant, tart at first with just a little sweetness afterward — perfect for a hot summer day. After walking in from that heat and taking the first few sips, it almost felt like jumping straight into a refrigerator. 😂🍋
If you’re looking for good Thai food in Providence, with reasonable prices, plenty of choices, and a restaurant interior that has its own artistic character, Heng Thai & Rotisserie is definitely worth a visit.
And if it’s your first time here, my personal recommendation is the Crispy Pad Thai. There’s a reason I keep coming back for it. 🇹🇭🍜
