- ESEbony Spikes1 day ago5.0Hemenway's is an amazing seafood restaurant & Providence institution. We've had many family moments there. The new Shrimp Tempura roll is AMAZING!! Our favorite server, Brandi, is the BEST! Ask for her or any of the amazing staff and you won't be disappointed. She's a true professional and always has a smile on her face. Her service is impeccable and one can see why she's been a staple there for years!
- ATannie ta1 day ago4.0Hemenway’s — Providence, RI Grok recommended Hemenway’s, so we decided to give it a try. Parking: If you have a smaller car, parking shouldn’t be too difficult, but we were driving a Cybertruck with the larger wheels, and unfortunately, it was too tall to fit in the parking garage. 😂 We spent about 20–25 minutes driving around looking for parking. We eventually found a spot across from the restaurant, and honestly, it turned out to be a great location with a nice river view. You can also keep an eye on your car from the restaurant. When we first walked in, the host seemed quite surprised by the way we were dressed. We’re very casual people and don’t usually dress up, and we definitely noticed the way he looked at us. But honestly, who cares? As long as we have money in the bank to pay the bill, we’re good. 😂 We weren’t too impressed with the first impression, but we decided to forget about it and enjoy our meal. We asked if we could sit by the river so we could enjoy the view while also being able to see our truck parked across the street. Our waiter and his assistant were very friendly, kind, and attentive, which really made the experience better. We ordered six different dishes because we love trying different foods when we travel. The biggest standouts for us were: ⭐ Clam Chowder — a must-try ⭐ Mussels — very good ⭐ Crème Brûlée — delicious ⭐ Cappuccino — also worth ordering If you have a similar taste to ours, these are the four things we would definitely recommend. The other dishes were okay, but nothing particularly special or memorable for us. Overall, the service was great, the restaurant was very clean, and we really appreciated the kindness and attentiveness of the staff. Despite the rough first impression and parking challenge, we ended up having a nice experience. Our must-try picks: clam chowder, mussels, crème brûlée, and cappuccino!

Not only was the service absolutely impeccable, but the food was delicious. Honestly, I wanted to order everything on the menu! 😂 Everything looked so good, it was hard to decide. Great atmosphere, beautiful views, amazing service, and delicious food. Definitely a spot I’m glad I discovered while visiting Rhode Island. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town! 🍽️🌊

We had the baked stuffed lobster and the scallop dish, and both were delicious. Everything was beautifully prepared and made for a wonderful dinner. My only disappointment was the crème brûlée, which was served cold. It was still enjoyable, but I would have preferred it served warm as expected. Overall, a fantastic dining experience, and Cassandra deserves a special shout-out for making our evening even better! I would definitely return.

We were warned ahead of time that it was a pricey spot, which we completely expected and didn’t mind, but unfortunately, the food simply did not live up to the price tag.I ordered the 2.5 lb steamed lobster. When it arrived, the shell was still completely waterlogged, leaving a pool of water inside. When paying a premium for a large lobster, the last thing you want to do is fight a messy, watery shell at the table. My fiancé ordered the stuffed lobster special, and was equally unimpressed with the flavor and preparation.It is entirely possible we just made the wrong choices on the menu, but given the high cost (over $300) and the disappointing execution, we honestly don't think we would eat here again when visiting Providence.
