  Great store - sadly, the new self checkout rules mean I won't be going here as much as I used to. Case and point: sunday afternoon - relatively busy - self checkout is empty (due to new 15 item max rule) while the understaffed full service checkout lines took 20-25 minutes each. Could see everyone craning their necks over to the self checkout in disbelief. Even the staff seem upset about the new management/ideas. My recommendation is to do some sort of surge protocol where, when it's super busy, able bodied customers with over 15 items can use the self checkout. While I understand why they did this (clueless and slow self-checkouters with 100 items in their cart), it needs some tweaking before I go back. Will take my $300/week across the street where self checkout flows more smoothly.

  Visited the Starbucks and the baristas Dee and Bianca were excellent! Customer service was spot on and they made our drinks Perfection! Thank you for all your hard work! S’mores frap!!!

  Same old same old. Can be pricey but have specials. Loading coupons to my card is annoying. Discounted items should just automatically be Discounted

  I am a long time Shaws shopper. I shopped earlier today in the East Providence store and when it came time to check out, I surveyed the staffed check outlines, saw lines and decided to use the self check out where there were multiple self service stations open. I prefer the self service stations anyway because I am able bag my order isolating the freezer and refrigerator goods from the groceries and paper good. I was an approached a a staff member who told me, that because I had more than 15 items, I could not use the self check out. My primary objective when shopping is to get out of the store as quickly as possible. The day that a store puts in a rule to make that more difficult is the day I stop shopping there. In addition, the meat selection is the worse I have seen anywhere. When purchasing meat, the ride to Barrington Shaws or Whole foods is well worth it.

  Meh. Nothing to do with staff. They’ve been fantastic! The Albertson corporation plays to their most profitable customer base, those who come into the store! Nothing new there in business practice though. Product placement that supports a political ideology when buying food is unfortunately all too common. I moved here from Vermont. Shaw’s doesn’t do that there, in areas of quite mixed political ideologies, and it felt like a safe place to get food. I’ve lived nationwide and that’s been my general experience with all of the food conglomerates. Here, in East Providence, I’ve stopped shopping there in the morning. Shopping early in the day can feel hostile. Many overly entitled veteran customers acting out their paradigm of political insanity. I am a proud retired veteran. I have walked in those shoes, but I retired having learned diplomacy. Albertson’s/Shaw’s management is disappointing, fostering division at a time when our country needs unity, not corporate agendas.
