Terrible Service, Blatant Racial Profiling, and Wrong Order:
I am absolutely disgusted by the treatment my daughter and I received at this Dunkin' location. We walked in because my daughter urgently needed to use the restroom and I wanted a Cold Brew as we are traveling home.
I said excuse me may we have the code to the bathroom as we walked in to use the bathroom and say the code was on the door and the employee at the counter told me we were not allowed to use the bathroom unless we made a purchase first. He claimed a "secret code" would only generate on the receipt after payment. I asked if there was anyway to order after as it was an emergency and he said unless your payment clears I can’t give you a code.
Wanting to help my daughter, I quickly placed an order and paid. While we were headed to the bathroom, an elderly white woman walked in, bypassed the counter, and headed straight for the restrooms. Because I thought the employee's rule applied to everyone, I politely told her she needed a code to get in. She simply asked the exact same male employee for the code, and he gave it to her instantly—no purchase required. To make matters worse:
The code he gave her was 6870 (clearly a static code, not a "secret code" generated by my receipt). He then casually told me I could just use the men's room instead because the code worked for both, completely exposing his previous lie.
We were the only non-white family in the store, and the contrast in how we were treated versus the white customer was blatant, undeniable racial profiling.
When I went back to the counter to get my food, the employee had conveniently vanished from the front. Even my daughter noticed the discrimination, asking me why the other lady didn't have to pay to use the restroom.
As a final insult, once we got in the car, we realized our food order was completely wrong too. I threw it away, went half a mile down the road to a different establishment, and was treated with basic human decency. This location needs a serious overhaul in staff training and a reality check on how they treat paying customers of color. Avoid this location at all costs.
