  While dog sitting for a friend and not familiar with the area, I wanted some good take out so I just looked up some spots nearby and found Carbonera’s. I was extremel though it was a later evening order, everything was freshly prepared and delicious. I decided on the chicken Parmesan with Angel hair and also got a side order of onion rings. The dinner came with very fresh Italian bread and yummy wedding soup. And my boyfriend said the onion rings tasted like “ Onion ring candy“! When I’m back in the area, I will definitely return. Thank you!

  This restaurant was a staple for my whole family for 25+ years. Since new ownership, the service has deteriorated. If you order takeout, only half of what you ordered will show up. Very disappointing.

  Obviously the change in management was not an improvement. In the mood for Italian, a friend and I headed to Piacquadio's in Castle Shannon, unfortunately they were closed for a family issue. My friend suggested nearby Carbonaras, but I remember having a bad experience a few years ago there. I was hungry so we decided to go there, a big mistake in hindsight. The food was mediocre and the service absolutely dismal. Upon ordering I asked for bread, since I was hungry. No bread was delivered. The server forgot my salad after several mentions, she finally brought it with my meal, the salad itself was all white & brown chunks of lettuce with a rather tasteless “homemade” dressing. Still no bread after asking again. The chicken Marsala ( my favorite meal) was lacking any Marsala flavor, they either used very little Marsala or a very cheap brand. The chicken breasts were not sautéed golden brown ( they were almost like blanched). The mushrooms appeared to be added after the fact, as they were also not browned. Obviously no demi glace was used, as the sauce was white and lacking a rich flavor. The side of pasta was supposed to be garlic and oil, nope just pasta with a vegetable oil, a few specks of garlic possibly, but no garlic flavor what so ever, so I asked for a side of marinara. Still no bread. We were waiting for drink refills which didn’t happen until we were finished with our meal. The marinara finally arrived after I was almost finished with the pasta. Still no bread, in fact she never brought the bread. Now we asked for the check and she disappeared, we waited and waited and she finally delivered the check. It was one of the worst dining experiences I have been through in quite a while and I dine out 6 days a week. I don’t know how they stay in business, I will not be returning…fool me twice. On a side not , my dining companion had an Italian hoagie and said it was delicious. My meal..$35.00 for entree, pasta side, salad and iced tea (no bread) tax and tip. Food taste..3 of 10 Service….1 of 10 Value…..3 of 10
