Recognized among Philadelphia’s premier coastal dining destinations, it offers a polished experience complemented by curated cocktails and a wine program designed to enhance seafood-forward flavors.
Food very disappointing on this recent visit compared to two prior visits (years ago). Review the menu before you go, it may change. I did not enjoy the mains or sides (four dishes) we tasted on this visit. If thin swordfish schnitzle is your idea of fine dining, then perhaps you will disagree. Oysters, bread, lettuce dressing, and service were very good. But that's about it.

last Wednesday, July 15, I had the pleasure of dining at Vernick fish. My server, erika, Is the reason I'm writing this fabulous review. She is without a doubt, a top-notch server. I enjoyed talking with her as much as I did the food. You can tell she is incredibly passionate about her work and this restaurant and her knowledge and capabilities at serving defy all expectations. She puts her whole heart into every single table she serves. I had an absolutely stellar appetizer: Sardines on sourdough. What a divine treat. Erika, thank you for all that you do and thank you for making me feel like I was at home. Well, done, Vernick, You hired such an excellent soul.

Our meals were prepared well and tasted quite good, with the exception of a cucumber and tomato salad that was passable at best. Soggy and vinegary. Anyway. The server and entire wait staff were excellent. The atmosphere nice (though it was freezing!).
We dine out a lot, and have no problem spending a lot on a dining "experience". While the food was very good, the prices are nuts.
we also didn't understand for the caviar with the patatos was just so expensive for not so good.

The food was absolutely phenomenal—every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor. It’s clear the kitchen is incredibly talented and the quality of the ingredients is top-notch.
Unfortunately, the service was a huge disappointment and did not match the caliber of the restaurant. It was slow, inattentive, and lacked the professionalism you’d expect from a fine dining establishment. For a restaurant at this price point, exceptional service should be just as memorable as the food, but instead it took away from what could have been an outstanding dining experience.
I truly hope the service catches up to the quality of the cuisine because the food deserves it.

Vernick Fish continues to be one of Philadelphia’s standout dining experiences. The shrimp cocktail is hands down the best I have ever had and possibly the best in the world. The attention to detail is incredible: perfectly prepared shrimp coated with cocktail sauce and finished with freshly shaved horseradish straight from the root. That fresh, sharp bite takes a classic dish and transforms it into something truly memorable.
The cocktails are uniquely impressive. Every drink is thoughtfully crafted and well balanced. You can there is a great deal of care and creativity that goes into every pour.
My only suggestion would be to revisit the front of house staffing model to better align with the level of service expected at this price point. On our anniversary, we experienced a longer than expected wait after being seated before anyone came to greet us. More recently, while sitting at the bar, we received our cocktails and then our bartender stepped away to focus on a private party, leaving us without the level of attention I would expect.
The hospitality team has an opportunity to make the service match the exceptional quality of the food and drinks. With a few adjustments, Vernick Fish could truly deliver a flawless experience from start to finish.
I will absolutely return as the food, cocktails, and atmosphere are too special.
