I placed an order through the Papa John’s website and specifically selected door service, which means the driver is supposed to wait and hand the order directly to the customer. My delivery was scheduled for 7:00 PM, but it was dropped off early at 6:45 PM. I later found out that even though I ordered through the Papa John’s website, the delivery was outsourced to DoorDash. The DoorDash driver called once, but instead of giving me a chance to return the call, waiting a moment, or attempting to contact me again, they immediately left my pizza on the ground outside the front door of my apartment building, and sent a photo. What makes this even worse is that it was raining at the time. Thankfully there is a small cover near the entrance that prevented the box from getting completely soaked, but leaving someone’s food on the ground outside in the rain, especially when door service was selected, is completely unacceptable. I’m extremely frustrated that I wasn’t even given the opportunity to call back before my food was left on the ground outside in the rain. If Papa John’s is going to outsource deliveries to third-party services like DoorDash, customers should still receive the service they selected and paid for.
