Hanah Hawaiian BBQ – First Visit, Maybe Not My Last 🍖🌺
Sometimes you're just in the neighborhood, your stomach starts making suggestions, and you decide to finally try that place you've been eyeing. That's exactly how I ended up at Hanah Hawaiian BBQ.
This was my first visit and my first time trying Hawaiian BBQ. I went solo, mainly because I was already in the area and had been wanting to try it since they opened. I'm happy to report—I was not disappointed.
🍽️ Food Quality & Taste
I ordered the BBQ Mixed Combo Platter, which came with short ribs, beef, and chicken, along with rice, veggies, two crab rangoons, and Hawaiian macaroni salad.
I normally don't care much for macaroni salad, so I asked for extra veggies instead.
The meat was the star of the show. Everything was seasoned really well, and each meat had a nice flavor without being overly salty or drowning in sauce.
The chicken deserves its own shoutout. It was tender and flavorful, which is no small accomplishment because BBQ chicken has a bad habit of showing up tough and chewy. This chicken understood the assignment. 😂
The rice was...rice. Nothing wrong with it, but I'm not writing home about it.
The veggies tasted like steamed vegetables, so you'll definitely want to season those yourself. They're basically waiting for you to give them some personality.
I also ordered the dumplings. They were perfectly fine—nothing particularly memorable, but they did their job.
The crab rangoons were actually pretty good. I liked the ratio of cream cheese to imitation crab. Neither one was fighting for custody of the filling, so everybody got along nicely.
💰 Value for the Price
For the amount of food included with the combo platter, I thought it was a reasonable value. You get several different proteins plus multiple sides, so there's enough variety to make a complete meal.
🧼 Cleanliness
The restaurant appeared clean and well maintained during my visit. No concerns here.
🤝 Customer Service
My visit was straightforward and pleasant. Nothing negative to report, and the ordering process was easy.
⏱️ Wait Time & Convenience
This is primarily a takeout-style spot, but there is plenty of seating if you want to eat your food there.
It's also a convenient option if you're already in the area and want to grab something good without making a whole production out of dinner.
📸 Presentation & Atmosphere
The atmosphere is casual and laid-back. This is not the place you're coming to get dressed up and get turned up. 😂
Think good food, grab your order, sit down if you want, or take it home.
The menu also has a mix of Asian and Hawaiian offerings. There is definitely a combination of influences represented on the menu.
⚠️ Red Flags or Warnings
Nothing major stood out to me.
My only note would be that the veggies are pretty basic and may need some seasoning if you're looking for more flavor. And if you're coming for a party atmosphere, this probably isn't your spot. This is more “give me my good food and let me enjoy my meal” than “turn the music up!”
Overall
For my first experience with Hawaiian BBQ, Hanah did not disappoint. The sides were decent, but the meat is what brought me in and what would bring me back. Well-seasoned, flavorful, and—most importantly—tender.
I went alone on a whim and left thinking this would be a great place to pick up an order when I want something flavorful without all the fuss. If you're in the area and love good meat, I'd definitely give Hanah a try.
My stamp on this place is… “Solo Solace.” ☕
