  I absolutely love what GIANT has done with Heirloom Market on Bainbridge. I’ve shopped at the larger Riverwalk GIANT for years and like it too, but this location serves a completely different purpose: I can walk over, pick up a handful of things, grab a bottle of wine or something from the excellent drinks fridge, and be home without turning grocery shopping into an expedition. The lower ceilings, warm lighting, compact layout, thoughtful selection, and consistently great smell remind me more of a neighborhood market in Kensington or Notting Hill than an American supermarket. There’s something unusually chic and local about it, especially for a concept backed by a major grocery chain, and the smaller footprint makes the curation feel intentional rather than limiting. My 3.5-year-old daughter loves coming here with me, which has turned plenty of ordinary errands into little neighborhood outings. It’s one of those places that makes city living easier while also making the neighborhood feel a little better. The staff is wonderful too. Très bien!

  I tend to go mid mornings, and even though I am making small shopping trips, they never seem to have what I want, and the staff is perpetually restocking the shelves and blocking the aisles. They all look exhausted and grouchy, and I have made the mistake of asking for assistance. I will try not to do that again! Wonky self-checkout, probably the craziest I’ve experienced on the east coast. I much prefer south Square market and it’s a pity they are supposed to be closing soon.

  Shitty management. Roxanne Merrit and Mike Sloan were rude, hostile, and completely unhelpful. Their attitudes made me feel unwelcome from the moment I asked a few simple questions. As a customer, I was just looking for help, but instead I was treated with disrespect. Customer service should never make people feel like they're a burden. I hope management addresses this because no customer should have to deal with that kind of treatment.

  Watermelons are in season right now. I purchased a watermelon from this store just now, and it tastes like nothing while also being overpriced relative to its size. Better to buy watermelon from Costco.

  WOW 😲 well first they must have been stocking shelves i could barely move with the stroller I had. Then I ordered a sandwich 🥪,and I noticed the guy come from behind the deli area and grab the Onion 🧅, 🥐 roll, and other items with no gloves,. Now when he made the sandwich he wore them but I thought to myself I hope I don't get sick from that,and sure enough I ate half and was up half the night 😞 When I was eating it it tasted ok, the prosciutto was a bit stringy,and the lettuce wasn't the freshest. First time there except to buy flowers,for food it'll probably be my last.
