I’ve been to Krispy Kreme in Montgomeryville/North Wales quite a few times, and I’ll start by saying their donuts are usually excellent. When the glazed donuts are fresh and warm, they’re honestly hard to beat — light, airy, soft, and absolutely delicious. That’s why I keep coming back.
But last night was disappointing.
I bought a dozen donuts, and the donuts I received looked scrawny and undersized compared to what Krispy Kreme normally serves. They honestly looked like rejects or like they didn’t rise properly. For the price you pay nowadays for a dozen donuts, I expected much better quality and consistency.
Don’t get me wrong — the flavor is still good. Krispy Kreme donuts taste great. But value matters too, and this time it just didn’t feel worth the money. I’ve had donuts from places like Federal Donuts, along with donut shops in New York City and even around San Francisco, where the donuts were bigger, less expensive, packed with flavor, and just as satisfying — sometimes even better. I’ve also traveled enough to know that not every place in the world even has great donuts, so when you do find a good donut shop, expectations naturally go up.
Krispy Kreme’s strength has always been those fresh, warm glazed donuts. When they’re made right, they’re fantastic. Unfortunately, this visit just felt flat overall. The experience didn’t match the price, and the quality simply wasn’t what I’ve come to expect from them.
Hopefully this was just an off night, because I know how good they can be when everything is fresh and done properly.

Chris immediately greeted us and gave us the red carpet treatment when learning it was our first ever at a Kristie Crème and even gifted us hot off the press doughnuts to sample. Hands down, Chris is our guy and this will be our weekly spot!

Initially I attempted to use the drive thru. I waited five minutes and there was no answer. When I finally went inside the cashier was rude and dismissive. The most disappointing aspect was they were out of original glazed donuts at 730 in the morning.
A Cut Above the Rest — The Definitive Krispy Kreme Experience
If you consider yourself even a casual donut enthusiast, this location is an absolute must-visit. After frequenting numerous Krispy Kreme locations throughout the area, it becomes immediately clear that this particular establishment operates on an entirely different level — and I strongly suspect this is their flagship location.
What truly sets this location apart is something that sounds simple but is surprisingly rare: warm donuts. Between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM, this is the only location in the area that serves their iconic donuts fresh and warm — straight off the line and absolutely melt-in-your-mouth perfect. That signature Krispy Kreme glaze, still slightly warm and delicately crisp, is something that simply cannot be replicated once a donut has sat and cooled. If you haven't experienced it, you genuinely haven't had a real Krispy Kreme donut.
Sadly, the same cannot be said for the other locations in the area. It seems as though their ovens are perpetually out of commission — for whatever reason, warm donuts there are more of a fantasy than a reality. If you've ever shown up to a competing location hoping for that fresh, warm experience only to be handed a room-temperature donut, you know exactly the disappointment I'm referring to. Frankly, your only other option for a truly warm Krispy Kreme donut — short of making the trip out to New Jersey — is right here at this location. And trust me, it is absolutely worth it.
Beyond the product itself, the cleanliness of this facility is unmatched — by far the most immaculate donut shop I have visited in this region. Every surface, display case, and dining area is impeccably maintained, reflecting a level of pride and professionalism that is increasingly difficult to find in the quick-service industry.
The staff are attentive, courteous, and clearly well-trained — a perfect complement to the quality of the product they serve. Whether you're grabbing a quick dozen on your way to the office or sitting down to enjoy a coffee and a warm Original Glazed, the experience here is consistently excellent.
Do yourself a favor: arrive before 11:00 AM, order the Original Glazed while they're still warm, and prepare to understand what all the fuss is about. This is Krispy Kreme at its absolute finest. 🍩
Terrible! They rarely ever have the donuts advertised but they usually have the regulars like lemon, raspberry, chocolate frosted...I went today to get the "Spring" collection. All they had in large quantity was the glaze. It was one "Milk Bar" collection donut. Some blueberry and some chocolate but for the most part no variety. They had signs up for different flavors but they were all filled with glaze. The worst part is that the website stated they had all the donuts I wanted but when I got there they didn't. I will not be returning to this location.
