Our waitress was amazing!! Someone, maybe it was her, saw that my son dropped his silverware, we hadn’t made a statement about it, based on he was getting a slice of pizza and had calamari. She replaced it, swiftly and kindly and just set it on the table and said, “for the silverware that was dropped on the floor” never even had to ask! Great job “unknown servers name” (I’m sorry I missed it).
Food was fantastic, ‘Nuff said!
When we arrived, one side of the restaurant was full and we were immediately told, there may be a wait - unless there was room on the other side - there was - we were instructed to seat ourselves where ever is open and clean. We did so.
Great work Palermo Pizza!! Gained a Berks County customer!!
I really didn’t want to leave a negative review, and I actually tried to resolve this directly with the restaurant before posting anything. I called hoping to speak with a manager and simply verify that my bill was correct, but after getting the runaround, I felt it was only fair to leave an honest review.
On a Friday, I called in an order consisting of 3 pizzas (2 plain and 1 pepperoni), 2 lobster bisques, 1 large antipasto salad, 1 order of mild wings, and a Mediterranean salad with chicken substituted for eggplant, spring mix instead of romaine, and added feta. Before ending the call, I specifically asked for the total and was told, “It should be about $82 plus tax.
Unfortunately, I didn’t pick up the order myself. My mother-in-law was passing through Minersville and picked it up for us, so she wasn’t aware of the quoted price.
When she returned, I was shocked to see the receipt totaled $125. That’s a significant difference from the $82 estimate I had been given. As I looked over the receipt, I noticed a drink that was neither ordered nor received. I also saw additional charges for changing the lettuce to spring mix, adding chicken, a $1 “bowl” charge, and the soups broken down into multiple line items. The receipt simply didn’t look right, so I called to make sure everything had been charged correctly.
The frustrating part wasn’t necessarily the final amount—it was the large difference between the quoted price and what I was actually charged.
When I called, I felt like I was being treated as an inconvenience. After the employee acknowledged the drink had been mistakenly added, I asked about the other charges and was told, “That’s how the system lists it, honey.” I was then assured that everything else was correct except for the drink charge.
Even then, I still wasn’t entirely confident the bill was accurate, but after already spending over 12 minutes on the phone, I was ready to move on. The proposed resolution was a $3 refund waiting for me at the front counter. I politely asked if the $3 could simply be refunded to my card instead of requiring another trip. The response was, “Eh… I don’t know how to do that”.
I then asked if someone else there might know how to process the refund. After some silence and additional discussion, I was told they needed to check with the owner. A few minutes later, I was informed that they had figured it out and would process the refund.
In total, I spent over 15 minutes on the phone simply trying to address an admitted mistake on my bill.
As for the food itself, it was okay—not bad, but not nearly as memorable as I remember Palermo’s being 15–20 years ago. The Mediterranean salad, especially at $22.50, was disappointing. Overall, this experience left me frustrated, not because of the small refund amount, but because of the billing confusion, poor communication, and the difficulty in resolving what should have been a simple issue.
