Didn't live up to the 4.7 stars, at all. Yes, authentic Mexican, but subpar food that was pretty bland. The Pico was mid and it came in tiny cups. There was no complementary chips and salsa or queso. The beef in the chimichanga was flavorless, thank goodness it had cilantro, that was its redeeming quality.
We ordered waters but they were also very small glasses and the waiter/waitress never once offered refills. We were traveling through on vacation, always relying on reviews, but this did not live up. Also two of my family members were overcharged when we had to go to the counter to pay. Bummed and disappointed!

My husband and I spent a few days in Kennett Square recently and tried 5 different restaurants. This was our favorite, by far, despite the fact that it was the cheapest. The food was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the pastor tacos. Some of the best Mexican I have ever had.

I love this little piece of INCREDIBLY AMAZING SO WONDERFUL FOOD in Kennett Square. We have been enjoying this Cuisine for 20 years now. The food speaks for itself.
We walked in to the restaurant this afternoon, just like walking into my Grandmother's kitchen, the aromas of all of the homemade food brought a huge smile to my face.
We ordered the Shrimp Fajitas and the #2, which is 4 Tacos with your choice of protein, I chose the Steak (Asada). And I ordered 3 Quesadillas with Steak to go, yes, incredible leftovers also.
The staff is wonderful, they are always smiling, very professional in every way, thats makes it a great place.
The rest is all smiles, and feeling great after a wonderful lunch like this, because its all homemade.
If I could give a 10 star rating, I would. Yes, 10 stars, perfect.
Thank you for this incredible Culinary journey over the past 20 years, i'm looking forward to many more years.

As a touring musician who travels for a living, La Peña is EASILY the best Mexican food I have had on the East coast. This restaurant stands out among the rest when it comes to taste, quality, consistency, and tradition. The chef came out and shook my hand before giving me my food, which was a first for me ever in any restaurant. I was blown away! Please give this restaurant a try!

Great little find! La Pena packs a LOT of FLAVOR without going broke for great birria tacos! They used FRESH and JUICY lime wedges too! The pineapple drink was a bit strong in terms of sugar content, but I think it’s all natural since it had a ton of finely shredded pineapple bits floating around in the drink (in the best way possible) The energy was right hearing the workers laugh and have meal breaks too, in a comfortable yet professional way. It makes you feel at home even if you’re not from around Kennett! The side of avocado was cheap and hearty! Looooove this place!
