We have a need to purchase some foods for people on restrictive diets and find the best mix of selection and prices at Giant usually. HOWEVER! The new self checkout stations gave me a very bad impression yesterday. They are more finicky and slow than before, and have an overbearing AI camera system which while necessary to prevent theft and misuse flagged me multiple times while I was trying to scan a long item. I'm not a Giant employee, so I resent the need to learn how to deal with the picant whims of yet another AI overlord. You can't drive, talk, watch TV, write an email, or blow your nose without being surveilled these days. Good thing there are usually plenty of humans here to hop on cashier lanes, because I'll be using them exclusively from now on.
