Others quietly put pickles on your sandwich, steal Robin's ice cream, and wait until you're halfway home to reveal their master plan. Friday-night reconnaissance brought me to the Chick-fil-A at Eagleview. I attempted to outsmart the dinner rush by ordering through the app and checking in upon arrival. Lucius Fox would have approved of the technology. However, the order took about 10 minutes after checking in, which isn't catastrophic during the Friday dinner rush. The bigger problem was quality control. My sandwich was specifically ordered without pickles. Pickles were present. No straws made it into the bag. And Robin's ice cream cup completely vanished. We didn't discover the crimes until halfway home, when turning the Batmobile around would have transformed dessert into a rescue mission. There is, however, a surprisingly good reason for families to put this particular location on their radar. It does still have an indoor play place. Those have become considerably harder to find at fast-food restaurants in the post-COVID era, so seeing one still operational feels like discovering a surviving piece of ancient Gotham infrastructure. For parents with younger sidekicks who need to burn off some energy while everyone eats, that's a legitimate advantage. The frustrating part is that we didn't get to slide down the slide, and, these weren't just one isolated mistake. It was three accuracy failures in one order. Chick-fil-A normally has a reputation for disciplined fast-food service, which makes an experience like this stand out. Friday-night volume explains a wait. It doesn't explain the Case of the Vanishing Ice Cream. DETECTIVE TIPS - Families, note the play place: An increasingly rare post-COVID fast-food amenity and a major advantage if you're traveling with younger Robins. - Use the app. It's convenient for customization and leaves a record of exactly what you ordered. - Friday night requires patience. Our mobile order took roughly 10 minutes after check-in. - Conduct a Bat-inspection before departure. Sandwich modifications, desserts, sauces, utensils and straws. Trust, but verify. BEWARE OF... - Missing desserts. Robin learned this lesson the hard way. - Forgotten straws. A drink without one in a moving vehicle becomes its own obstacle course. - Missed customizations during the rush. If the Joker can infiltrate Gotham PD, apparently a pickle can infiltrate a no-pickle sandwich. The play place earns this location some valuable utility points, particularly for families. But next mission, nobody leaves the parking lot until Batman checks the bag.
