I was really disappointed with the butter chicken. I was expecting a rich, creamy, flavorful curry, but the dish didn’t come close to what I would expect from a good butter chicken. The sauce was overly sweet and lacked the depth of flavor and balance that makes this dish enjoyable. It also tasted more like a generic tomato-based gravy than a properly prepared butter chicken sauce.
The chicken itself was another issue. The pieces were dry and somewhat tough rather than tender and juicy, and they didn’t seem to have much flavor on their own. There was also very little of the smoky, buttery, mildly spiced taste I was expecting.
Overall, the dish felt poorly balanced and underwhelming. Butter chicken is usually one of the safer choices when ordering Indian food, but unfortunately this was not something I would order again. For the price, I expected considerably better quality and flavor.
Update: The owner responded, but I’d like to clarify that I understand that dosa can lose some crispness during takeout, and I mentioned that in my review based on my actual experience. My concern wasn’t simply that it wasn’t perfectly crispy—it was also that the dosa and potato filling lacked flavor and the sambar and chutneys did not taste fresh.
As for the $12.99 price, I never said it was too expensive. I said that at that price, I expected the quality and preparation to match the description on the menu.
I’m sharing my experience as a customer, not asking for anything for free. A professional response would be to acknowledge the feedback rather than telling a customer to “find cheap” food elsewhere.

Really disappointing dosa. I ordered the Masala Dosa, which is listed as a thin, crispy crepe filled with spiced potatoes, but what I received was not crispy and tasted like it had been sitting around for a while. The dosa itself was bland, and the potato filling didn’t have much flavor. The sambar and chutneys were also disappointing and didn’t taste fresh.
For a $12.99 dosa, I expected much better. When a restaurant has multiple dosa options on the menu, including paper and onion-chilli versions, you expect the basics to be done properly. Unfortunately, this was nowhere close to what I expected from a South Indian dish.

I finally got some time to write this review because I wanted to think carefully about my experience at Desi Flavors Indian Cuisine. Unfortunately, it was very disappointing. The shrimp I received appeared to be undercooked, with a translucent and unpleasant texture that made me question whether they had been cooked properly. This is not something I expect when ordering a prepared shrimp dish from a restaurant.
The overall presentation also did not give me confidence in the quality or preparation of the food. I understand that every restaurant can have an off day, but when seafood appears undercooked, that is a serious concern. I expected better attention to cooking, freshness, and quality control.
I hope the restaurant takes feedback like this seriously and pays closer attention to the preparation and cooking of shrimp and other seafood. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I was not satisfied with the food and would be very hesitant to order the same dish again.

This proved to be a really nice neighborhood Indian restaurant. The food was good, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was pretty cozy. Most importantly, the prices were reasonable. I'd definitely recommend this place and look forward to eating here again!
