We decided to try out the pasta flight. Let me say it did not disappoint! The pasta flight also comes with a martini- say no more! The abviance of the restaurant is welcoming and the service was exceptional. The pasta flight was tasteful and filling. Oh and the bread, yumm. We wanted dessert but honestly there was no room, bit I will definitely be going back. Why? Because they have a tirismu flight! Shout out to our waitress Valeria, she's amazing! Seriously excited to go back and try some of the other dishes, but definitely leaving room for dessert.

I chose Piccolo Trattoria after having a great experience there for a girls’ night out, where we enjoyed drinks and a pasta flight for $30 each. Unfortunately, my lunch visit with my child was a completely different experience.
We ordered the mozzarella sticks, rigatoni with Alfredo sauce, and Parmesan cauliflower. The food was extremely disappointing. The rigatoni was noticeably undercooked—at least 3–4 minutes short of al dente—and the mozzarella sticks tasted as though they had simply been reheated in a toaster oven. We ended up eating the cauliflower and only managed a few bites of everything else.
What made the experience worse was the lack of any real effort to address the issue. There was no meaningful attempt to replace or fix the food, and the waitress offered a half-hearted apology before handing us the check. To add insult to injury, I was charged extra for the rigatoni substitution and additional Alfredo sauce.
We ultimately paid around $50 for a meal that was greasy, poorly prepared, and largely inedible. Given how much I had enjoyed my previous visit, this was especially disappointing.
Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to the hype, and I would not return.

We loved the atmosphere and how fast we were sat but it went downhill from there. A member of our party was politely questioning how the salad was prepared as she is gluten-free for health reasons and the menu does say gluten free food is prepared in same place as other food. The server (Maria) was clearly never taught to be sensitive around this and even said “this is an Italian kitchen” - wow! Moving on from that we had ceasar salad with a very odd dressing and the papardelle bolognese that was tasteless. The only plus was the “Brooklyn pizza” though not worth coming back for. Maybe Maria had a rough night but we won’t return.

I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt on some things because they were EXTREMELY busy tonight, large parties everywhere. The food was phenomenal and came out very quick which was nice. And the manager did attempt to fix the issues. I was just severely underwhelmed.
I went for the "Girl Dinner" Pasta Flights and Martini pairing with my mom as a pre birthday dinner. We arrived, completely understood off the bat everyone seemed overwhelmed by how busy they were this evening, no big deal here I have been there. A group of 5 walked in a moment behind us and it seemed like because they knew everyone working there (not sure if it was fellow employee and their family, family of owners or something) that they made more of a rush to get them seated timely even though they also had no reservations. But again I wasn't going to let that ruin my evening before I had sat down. We were seated promptly after that. The back dining room was horribly loud, but to be expected with the crowd.
My issue was with a few things outside of all that. The advertising we had seen online stated the "girl dinner" came with a martini pairing of choice; however it is really a build your own espresso martini, my mom was a bit disappointed in that because she did not want an espresso martini at all this evening due to the espresso. We opted to order off the regular menu. We ordered drinks and an appetizer. When the waitress came back to take our entree order we still hadn't gotten drinks but it was okay at that point because it had only been a few minutes. We got our appetizer and the salads that came with our meals almost instantly after she took our entree order. And not long after that we got our meals but still no drinks. A few minutes later my drink came from the bar but my mother's had not. Just a "they're working on it now." Another ten minutes pass before what I assume is the Foh manager came to our table (that was directly in front of the servers station) to ask if everything came out okay and we could mention my mother had still not received her drink... He immediately apologized and went to see what was going on. It was apparently just sitting there at the bar. He brought it straight away and said he would remove it from the bill for the inconvenience (much appreciated)
My drink (I still opted to get an espresso martini) was all vodka. It was very much undrinkable in my taste. But because of everything going on I just left it be.
My only other complaint was that the (assumed) FOH manager was standing at the server station behind me our entire visit flagging down his servers left and right trying to get them to rush the patrons out. There was a nice gentleman sitting at the table next to us facing him and listening to this manager rush his server to rush the man out of here, who was just finishing his wine and dessert. Even from the moment we sat it felt he was rushing our table as well. It would have been a much better experience if I did not feel so unwelcomed to be there, or at least had a seat away from it.
Regardless of the comp drink or the free cannolis we didn't expect, it was just a bit disappointing to be looking forward to this only to hear the manager rushing all his staff to get the customers out.
I would like to try again and potentially actually get a pasta flight. Hopefully it may be better experience when I do but until then I just am a bit upset.

4.25 stars. This was a pleasant experience, certainly, and I’d return. The food was very good with a few exceptions—a house salad was underwhelming and a sautéed broccoli rabe was a bit dry and slightly under salted, for example. The red sauce is bright and fresh, the breading on the Parmigiana we both had was light and tasty.
I felt a bit overcharged for an after dinner drink that was a substitute for one I ordered from the menu but they did not have it. I am not a fan of bar prices not being listed in the menu.
The service was friendly and attentive—José kept checking on us at appropriate times and was amicable in his presence. Plates were cleared quickly, as well.
It is worth noting there was a point where we were asked if we’d like boxes for our meals (this was a two top seating) only an hour after we were seated and also having ordered a bottle of wine (for two). This, with the fact that food came out at lightning speed between courses (we had apps, salads, entrees and dessert), suggests that the restaurant likely is intentionally trying to turn its tables really quickly. I get it, and José is likely doing what he’s being asked to do, but there needs to be a happy balance—90 minutes isn’t unusual for a seating, especially when a bottle of wine is part of the proceedings. 60 minutes in I’d like some time to digest my food and perhaps sip on some wine.
It may seem like I nitpick; but this review is just as much for the restaurant as it is for anyone who is reading and determining whether to go.
Like I said, I’d go again, and you should too—especially if you like well prepared Italian food with an extensive menu in a lively, moderately noisy atmosphere (lots of birthdays being celebrated!) Just ask for José if you do, and let them know if you wish to have a little bit more time to relax to finish your wine, if you’re so inclined.
