Last minute pick up while I got my oil changed. Everyone jealous (2 others from waiting room walked over, smelled so good).
I was very disappointed in my visit.
I will start with the food.
I ordered coffee, it was the color of tea, and was very watered down.
I had the Chicken fried steak and my daughter had biscuits and gravy.
My chicken fried steak was good but it had about two tablespoons of gravy on it and the biscuits had like a dollop of gravy. When you order something with gravy, it’s a reasonable expectation that it will be covered in gravy. Both these items were not. I looked at other pictures of these items on the reviews and they look nothing like what we were served. I don’t know if it was a new cook or if this is the new norm?
My toast had a small circle of melted butter, in the middle and I was given a tiny paper cup with probably a 1/2 tsp jam in it, they did not ask what kind to jam I wanted. It covered about 1/4 of the toast. I am a grown adult, I feel like I can decide how much butter and jam I want on my toast. It felt very much like these were cost cutting measures, but with a $20 price tag per meal this was not ok.
The waitress was very kind. She appeared to be the only one there, so she was very busy.
The inside was very COLD. We had to go get our jackets.
My time and money is valuable to me, so I don’t think I will be back.
I hope the owners look at this and rethink skimping the little things. That could make or break someone coming back.

We love coming here for breakfast. I very much appreciate the large variety of gluten-free meals! I don't feel like I have to settle. My better half is free to eat all the gluten and also loves the variety, new specials and large portions.
We went looking for a local breakfast option near Enchanted Forest in Salem, OR, and found our way to the Sassy Onion location on Market Street. So glad we did, because it was our favorite breakfast experience of the trip! Aesthetically, it's a simple diner experience with old-fashioned booths, furniture and decor - but there's nothing simple about the food. Everything is cooked fresh, portions are huge and the menu is so expansive that you could probably eat for a week or two on omelettes and pancakes alone, without ever ordering the same thing twice. Our waitress (who was also our hostess) was also very friendly and kind enough to order a plate split for our two entrées without our even needing to ask. Would highly recommend the Sassy Onion to anyone visiting Salem or passing through the area on their way to nearby attractions!

This place slaps. We all got something different from the brunch menu and it was all bomb… corned beef hash, sweet potato hash, the biscuits were FIRE… THE FRENCH TOAST IS INSANE like maybe the best thing I’ve ever eaten, and the bloodies were super big. Don’t be fooled by the appearance from outside, it’s way better inside
