I placed my order via DoorDash and had no options to make modifications or anything like that. Probably just to make things easier for the delivery drivers, I’m ok with it. Anyway, I decided to at least TRY to call and ask the store directly. I spoke to Rigo, whom answered the phone and asked if I could add a couple of extras. He was absolutely happy to do it. I tried to keep it as simple as possible and he had no issues with any of it. Very friendly. Very professional. I liked the quick chat and he then told me that he and his coworker, Esther, would now jump on getting my sandwiches made.
DoorDash driver, coincidentally was another fabulous person and experience, handed me my chow and was on his way to his next spot. I opened my sandwich and did my cursory glance to see if they look right. They did.
But here’s the thing… I’ve been eating basically the same exact sandwich going back to the mid-nineties. The sandwiches I got for dinner tonight and lunch tomorrow, are absolutely amazing. Not skimping on any of the condiments, veggies, etc… Normal amount of meat and cheese and when I started eating I noticed that even though everything was there, they’d made it in a “lighter” sandwich. All the flavors, consistencies, crisp veggies… all of it was there and was plentiful and I didn’t have the normal, heavy, “gut-bomb,” experience. They’re easily the best Subway sandwiches I’ve had in fifteen years. It’s so nice when people enjoy what they do and do it with pride, treat others with respect, kindness and just generally give a damn. Rigo & Esther certainly give a damn. It’s evident in what they prepare, make and serve. I’ll tell ya what, it’s becoming more and more rare to see employees as squared away as these two. I just appreciated it.
Rigo & Esther… THANK YOU!! Y’all get it. The difference is always in the details. You pay attention to the details. I appreciate the both of you. Cheers!
