  This was, years ago, a reasonably decent Safeway. I didn't mind the cordoned off area where they kept the tinfoil because I blatantly ignored it. They added the automatic gates (like Freddy's) several months ago, fine, but they never restocked carts or baskets at those entrances. Now they've retreated to one entrance/exit, consolidating the homeless population they were so concerned about loss prevention measures for in the first place (and still don't make carts and baskets available). Moreover it keeps getting dirtier and dirtier. This Safeway is cooked, it's in its final spiral down the drain, and it won't last another year.

  I had been going to this Safeway pharmacy to pickup my important monthly prescriptions for months now without the need for ID, but they just started to require you to have your ID regardless of your prescription/pick-up history at the pharmacy. I wouldn't be so irritated if they just told me "sorry but unfortunately we need ID now" or something, but instead the lady at the counter and the male pharmacist were both being rude, making smug sarcastic statements, and frankly they seemed oddly happy to be telling me they weren't going to be providing me my prescription for some reason. Like they derived pleasure from turning me away. Will not be coming back here again. The woman was a middle aged tan skinned woman with medium length wavy black hair and the man was a shorter asian fella.

  Safeway Pearl District — Online Order Review This Safeway has officially become my primary grocery store, and it's all thanks to how seamless the online ordering process was from start to finish. Placing the order was easy, the communication was clear throughout, and everything was ready when promised — no drama, no surprises, just good service done right. A big shoutout to Dustin, the manager, who personally assisted with my order and made sure everything ran like clockwork. It's not every day you get a manager who's hands-on and genuinely invested in making the customer experience a smooth one. Dustin's attention to his department really shows — the organization, the care in how items were selected and packed, and the overall pride in the work all came through. Credit also goes to the team member who completed my order. They were efficient, detail-oriented, and clearly took pride in getting things right. Between the great communication, the careful handling, and the genuinely friendly service, this location has earned a loyal customer in me.   FUNNY STORY- I was helped by two separate wonderful employees 8/8/26 It was my intention to send two thank yous, but I misplaced this representatives name. I think it's Andrew, but I also may be making that up. Thank You Andrew for keeping Safeway Lovejoy kind and wonderful! Things move quickly. It's what we need to do to keep all of the important parts of society moving. But that often means that larger companies lose heart just to serve the masses. I spoke to someone today that just rocked my socks. My request for information was during a busy weekend, but Andrew made the time to answer my questions and then double check to see if I needed anything else. I just can't thank Safeway enough for having Andrew who made my day better!

  They've installed a one-way security gate at the front door. That's fine, but they also have a rude security guard stationed there who yells at people who exit through it. When the gate is closed, you can see a 'no exit' sign on it. But when the gate is open, that sign swings away and isn't visible anymore. I watched a woman exit through the open gate, while there was no sign indicating she can't do that, then panic when the security guard starting yelling at her. I told him to stop yelling at people, and he said 'I don't care.' I told him not to be rude to customers who haven't done anything wrong, and he said 'I don't care.' I guess we shouldn't care about this store, either. They also need to do something about all the animals in the store. If they're not service animals, they're not allowed in a grocery store, and staff should be trained to turn them away.
