  We need a 6-star system for a few restaurants, Po’ Shines is definitely one of them that needs it. Everything I’ve had here has been so good, absolutely bonkers hush puppies. You literally can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.

  The food is great, and always worth the wait, even if service is a little slow or sparse. I don’t live in Portland anymore, but I always took visitors there. And now that I’m planning a trip back there, I’ll definitely be asking my friends to meet me at Po Shines!

  firstly, the food was fab. i ordered the fried catfish with cornbread, greens, and mac and cheese, and it was gone quick. i ordered take out and it ended up taking 30 minutes past the estimated 15 minute wait time, but it did seem like it was only one or two people working. don’t know if that’s the usual but the food was worth the wait, so just plan accordingly. will be back soon.

  I visited this Cafe at the recommendation of my hairdresser Tiffany and man im so glad she recommended me to yall! The food was so good that I instantly became emotional as I'm from Texas and I didn't expect Portland to have good soul food I got the catfish platter, sweet yams and peach cobbler. The food and the service was so comforting! The servers didnt rush you while you ate, I can definitely feel the love in the food, like it tasted homemade and not corporate. I also cried when I took my first bite of thr cat fish as I was instantly transported back to my mom and dad's large home in Texas where we would eat catfish durning the summer and hush puppies.

  Would have reviewed higher on service. However the day prior when me & my family went in to eat. A server passed our drinks to a homeless guy that was loitering in the establishment, to deliver our drinks to us. We immediately got up and walked out. However the server came out to flag us down and apologized immensely, we explained that we came to Portland all the way from Delaware & we were taken aback. But we will be back the next day. The next day we did return asked for the server from the day before (such an awesome, nice guy 🙂), he showed up spoke to us shook our hands & apologized once again as well as the manager. They did comp us on our meal. And everything was great. Thank you all for your professionalism & I apologize for not remembering the server name. But he was the main reason for us coming back. Great guy again!!!!
