The service was awesome from the moment we walked in, and our server Summer was especially great — friendly, attentive, and clearly someone who knows the menu well. We started with a couple of cocktails, and every drink was solid. For appetizers, we ordered the calamari and the beef skewers. Both were delicious, but the calamari really surprised me — even though it was fried, the batter was super light, not heavy or greasy, and the flavor was spot‑on. The beef skewers were tender and packed with flavor, a perfect starter. For dinner, we went with the chicken piccata, one of Summer’s favorites, and the Turkey Pot Pie. Both dishes were excellent. The piccata had that perfect balance of brightness and richness, and the pot pie was comforting, hearty, and exactly what you want from a classic dish done well. The dessert menu sounded tempting, but we were way too full to keep going. The atmosphere is one of the things we loved most — it has this chill, neighborhood vibe that makes you feel instantly comfortable. We were surprised by how busy it got around 4 pm, but it added to the energy without feeling chaotic. Overall, Huber’s Café delivered great food, great service, and a great vibe. Definitely worth the stop while in Portland.
