I want to like this place but I am highly disappointed. The vibe looks great and we had no problem getting seated and placing our order fairly quick. The problem is that It took roughly 45 minutes for our food and drinks to come out all at once. On top of that our food was cold. It tasted alright but very underwhelming considering the price. The bar didn’t seem that busy so I’m especially confused as to why the drinks took so long. I do NOT recommend this place if this is their standard.

TL;DR: food great, service SUCKED. The positive: the food was amazing and I cannot express that enough. The hostesses were also welcoming and helpful. However our server took our drink order and we did not see her again until we flagged down the hostess. We watched three other servers check the drinks at the bar and it wasn’t until one of them checked twice that he delivered it to our table. One of the hostesses brought our food later and it wasn’t until we were about five minutes into our meal that we had to flag a hostess to ask for salt before our server reappeared.

My partner and I came here Saturday night for a celebratory dinner, our first "nice" night out in a while, and unfortunately the service made it hard to enjoy. To be clear upfront: the host was warm and welcoming, and every other server and bartender we watched seemed attentive and kind to their tables. This review is specifically about our own experience with the one server assigned to us. We arrived around 4:30 for a 5:30 reservation, hoping to get seated early, and were kindly seated right away at a quiet two-top. That's where the good part of the evening mostly ended. Our section had maybe five tables max, and it wasn't during a rush — no happy hour, no lunch or dinner peak — so I was surprised at how long everything took. It took a noticeable while before anyone acknowledged us, and when our server finally came over, there was no greeting or introduction — we never actually caught her name the entire night — just a flat "can I help you with anything?" We ordered, and from there almost every step of the meal had a long, quiet gap behind it: getting our drinks, getting our appetizer, getting our entrees. At one point our empty oyster plate sat on the table for a while — she walked past several times without clearing it, and checked in on the food once, but the plate stayed there regardless. We watched her warmly greet newer tables seated around us, which made the lukewarm start to our own dinner sting a bit more. By the time our entrees arrived, we'd been there so long neither of us was still hungry. Getting the check took another 15–20 minutes and eventually required flagging down the host, since our server wasn't checking in. At one point another server from a different section came over on his own to ask if we needed help, which we appreciated but also felt like a sign of how noticeable the wait had become. I want to be fair: I used to work as a server myself, and I know off days happen and sections/assignments aren't always clear. I don't think anyone intended to make us feel ignored, and we still tipped. But we spent over $100 and about 90 minutes on a meal we couldn't really relax into, on a night that was supposed to be a celebration. Just a disappointing experience overall, especially given how well the rest of the staff treated their own tables.

We absolutely loved our experience at Hearth & Wine! Kyra was truly wonderful and honestly one of the best servers we’ve had in a long time. She has a rare talent for making a genuine, natural connection with guests; incredibly attentive and helpful but never once felt intrusive or overbearing. It felt like she genuinely cared about our experience, and that made such a difference. And the pizza was AMAZING. Definitely one of the best pizzas we’ve had recently. Everything was delicious, and we’re already talking about coming back. Another huge plus: the dog-friendly patio. It’s so nice to find a place where you can enjoy great food and actually bring your dog along. Thank you guys, for making our evening so special. We’ll definitely be back! ❤️

Honestly have never had a worse experience at a restaurant ever, and clearly there are issues behind the scenes. I want to start this by saying I’m usually very understanding to restaurants as I know how difficult it is as I work in retail, however this was beyond that. We had a reservation for 7:45, and ended up getting there on time, but there was a wait to even get into the restaurant, and no hostess seating people. By the time we go to the front, it was about 8:02. The waitress explained to us that it was 15 minutes past our reservation so they gave up our table… we spent those 15 minutes waiting IN LINE BECAUSE THERE WAS NO HOST SEATING ANYONE. We explained this and thankfully were given a table after some consideration. After some time, the waitress came over to the table to ask if we wanted any drinks or appetizers. We ordered an app and some drinks… although even the on tap beers ended up taking about 30 minutes to come out, and we were right next to the bar which makes it worse. The app I will say was good! The waitress came back over to take our order and someone in our party ordered the Mary’s chicken. We proceeded to wait an hour just for the waitress to come back and say that the kitchen ran out of potatoes for the chicken. By this point, the drinks we had were long gone so we ordered a different beer that was in a can. This again took 30 minutes… for a can. A busser eventually came out and brought the can and a glass, said “here’s your beer” and then proceeded to dump it vertically into the glass. It all OVERFLOWED and spilled everywhere on the table, with only about a quarter of the beer still in the glass. By this point it was 10 pm, 2 HOURS AFTER WE SAT DOWN and we were talking to the people next to us about how long the food was taking, they were saying they were ready to cash out and leave. Just then, we see what was the manager bringing food towards us… and then he collided with someone and all the food dropped on the floor, breaking the plates. It was now 2 HOURS AND 30 MINUTES since we sat down and no dinner. We explained to the manager that this was unacceptable, and he told us that was our food he dropped and he told us someone bumped into him while he was carrying it. Regardless, even 2 hours later is still unacceptable. He said he runs the best gig in town and would get us our food within 10 minutes and give it to us. Well, it had already been 150 minutes lol, no thank you. Us and the people next to us both left. Clearly there were issues either in the kitchen or with the staff and it seemed they weren’t trained to the level that the restaurant promises. I really hate to leave this review but it was our first time in Portland and this was definitely a bad first impression.
