We have eaten here 4 times. The food is normally excellent. My husband had the seabass which he has had before, but this time it was slightly overcooked and dry. It still had a good flavor but a little disappointing. I ordered the chimichurri sirloin steak and grilled shrimp. It was delicious. And the chocolate lava cake was awesome.

We have been there twice in the last couple months. Both times the food was over cooked. The first visit I had Prime Rib. Second visit I had Sea Bass. We also had the lava cake. All was over cooked and dry. Same for my husband's dinners. The view from upstairs is great. Downstairs by the bar is in the trees so the view isn't as spectacular. But the service is impeccable. I have no complaints as far as the staff is concerned. They just need to up their game in the kitchen.

One of the jewels of Portland. If you want to to celebrate a great day, a special moment, or the most important birthdays, anniversaries, or births, Chart House is the place to do it. The general manager, Patrick, is always on the floor working with his team and speaking with his guests. This is one of my favorite restaurants on the West Coast!!!

Service was "ok" and the food was not warm, but the issue that ruined our experience was the freezing air conditioning. We were seated downstairs and the A/C vents on the floor next to the table were blowing so cold and fierce that we asked if they could cover it. A hostess grabbed extra table clothes to do so, but also needed ceramic plates to hold the clothes down because it was blowing so hard. It helped somewhat, but we still needed to put on our sweaters/coats and remained chilled. Soon, all the tables around us asked for their vents to be covered as well. As new patrons were seated, we could hear them ask their servers if something could be done about the brutal cold. The staff clearly knew this was an ongoing problem. Perhaps the system needs to be on high downstairs to keep upstairs at a decent temp (?) but It would make a huge difference if the restaurant could resolve the issue so all the patrons downstairs could enjoy their dining experience.

Chart house is a gem away from the city. We decided to go here when the steakhouse we usually frequented while in town raised their pricing and we thought we would try a new place. We are glad we did!
We have now been twice, once for dinner, and once for lunch.
We had steak for dinner, which ended up being a great choice. Everything was cooked and seasoned great, including the meatballs we had as an appetizer. We also ordered mixed drinks that were great.
When we returned for lunch, we had the diner burger and fish and chips. Both were excellent. It's so nice to have a hand-formed burger at a restaurant that is cooked correctly.
We find the service is good, but not excellent. Everybody is friendly, but sometimes it takes longer than expected to be checked on.
The view is definitely a bonus, hard to beat.
