Three months ago I went to your store to buy some items and I did not have my phone and was not offered the digital coupon price. It’s very inconvenient for a person my age to use a phone to download coupons. The clerk suggested that I go to the library and download the coupons there since that time I very limited use of your store other than pharmacy or one item stops. It’s easier for me to go to Market of Choice than deal with your coupons. The thought that these are in place for someone that has to have a cell phone with a camera to use. You should have another way to help your clients with this.

But first being shamed by the Hispanic gentleman working the self checkout because I used food stamps and he said I quote "the state of Oregon has decided you are too poor to pay 10¢ for a bag let me remove that charge for you". After he gave me a ridiculous amount of grief over honoring some coupons! Saying again "you don't have to worry I'm the one who has to answer to the manager on Monday and possibly lose my job for doing this". I still see him working there which is ok. I hope he has had some training on how to treat people. Now I gave 5 stars because the night manager I spoke with was absolutely amazing! He apologized on behalf of Safeway and said he would educate the gentleman about accepting coupons and treating customers with common courtesy and respect. He also furthered my complaint to the store director. I missed his call my voicemail was not set up. I went back to talk with him and he too was just an amazing compassionate man! I felt really validated by both of these managers. So here's a shout out to both of you when you read this you will know who you are! HAIL SAFEWAY ASSISTANT MANAGER AND STORE DIRECTOR!!!
