Safeway Customer Service Experience I had one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had at Safeway this morning around 8:58 AM at the Customer Service desk. I was waiting for Customer Service to open at 9:00 because I needed to withdraw cash from my Chime card so I could pay my phone bill. Rosa approached me and asked if I needed something. I explained that I was waiting for Customer Service to open and that I simply needed to pull cash from my card. She proceeded to help me, but the screen only showed an option to add funds. I was confused because I was trying to withdraw cash, not add money. She printed a receipt showing $0.00 and then told me that I had $0 in my bank account. I tried explaining that the $0.00 on the receipt was because the transaction was set up as an “add funds” transaction, which was not what I was requesting. I’ve been coming to this Safeway for months and have both added money to and withdrawn money from my card, so I knew there were normally options for both. I asked Rosa if she could come around and look at the screen with me because the only option showing was “add funds.” Instead, she went and got her manager, Alana. Alana told me that I had to purchase something in order to withdraw cash. My immediate question was, “Why didn’t she just tell me that?” At that point, Alana told me she didn’t like my attitude and asked me if I wanted to buy something or leave. I was honestly shocked by the way I was being spoken to. I wasn’t refusing to follow the process, I was simply trying to understand why I was being told something completely different from what I had done at this store previously. I ended up going to the ATM and withdrawing my money there. Afterward, I went back to the Customer Service desk and asked Rosa where I could file a complaint because, unfortunately, this is not the first time I have felt that she has been rude or dismissive toward me. When Alana came back, I asked for the complaint number. She said look at the bottom of my receipt, but I explained that I hadn’t actually purchased anything. I had to ask her to write the number down for me so I could file the complaint. I have since called and filed a formal complaint. What bothered me most wasn’t being told that I needed to make a purchase to receive cash. If that’s the store’s policy, that’s fine. What bothered me was the way I was treated when I was simply asking questions and trying to understand the process. Being told I had an “attitude” and essentially being given the choice to buy something or leave felt extremely unprofessional and unnecessary. I have been a regular customer at this Safeway and will continue shopping there, but moving forward, I will be asking for someone other than Rosa to assist me at Customer Service. Customers deserve to be treated with basic respect, even when there is confusion or disagreement about a transaction. This entire interaction could have been handled calmly and professionally, and unfortunately, it wasn’t.

Apparently you guys are totally ok with cutting in line and not doing anything about it. 2nd day in a row where we've been cut in self checkout and your cashiers won't do anything.
