They didn't fill my husband's blizzard up all the way or put a lid on it (we where dining out) and my shake was more on the blizzard side of consistency

To preface this review, I worked at a high quality high volume Dairy Queen for 7 years, so I know what is considered good and bad service/food at a DQ. In general, this location has always been pretty good. I don’t know what has happened to this DQ recently, but quality of food/ice cream has seen a big decline. The last three times ordering from this DQ, I have had food missing (items that were repeated back to me at the order box). This occasion was no different.
I ordered a shrimp basket with tartar sauce and honey mustard (which I know costs extra). It was missing the honey mustard. This would be okay if it were the only thing. I also ordered a $7 meal deal which was missing the drink, and a #8 combo which was missing a regular fry and a whole patty on the burger. This was not a complex order, and they were seemingly not busy before I got there.
Moreover, they passed my blizzard and milkshake out first (with ice cream all over the cups, something I would have gotten in trouble for). I then proceeded to wait over 20 minutes for my order to be ready as my ice cream melted. I know that the thing that takes the longest to cook would be the shrimp, which takes approximately 5 minutes, and thus a 20 minute wait is a bit ridiculous. I should have gotten back in line to receive my missing items, but by that time a longer line had formed and I didn’t want to wait even longer while my ice cream died.
Having worked at a Dairy Queen, this all would have been considered unacceptable. There is a better way to do things, for quality’s sake, for efficiency’s sake and for accuracy’s sake.
There are several simple things this location could do to improve significantly in my eyes. First, have your drive through worker check the bag of food and compare it against the receipt or order on the POS to make sure everything is present. If you are unsure, ask the customer if they have everything they ordered. Second, wait to make the ice cream until the food is almost done—especially if the customer is going to wait 5 minutes or more (but especially if it will be 20+). Wiping down cups before handing them out (and also asking if they want lids or a drink carrier) would also be a very simple thing to improve service, though these things would be easily forgiven if my order was actually correct and my ice cream was unmelted by the time I was able to drive away.
No complaints against the customer-facing employee’s general customer service. They were all kind. They just need to do better at ensuring accuracy and quality.

Beyond upset. We got a birthday cake and was told it was celebration icing. Well we got it home and started cutting into it only to realize it’s plastic. Someone could have choked. Not to mention I tried calling and no one would answer!!
