An Accidental Immersive Theater Experience (with Pizza)**
If you are looking for a quiet, low-profile lunch buffet, this might not be the place for you. But if you want your beverage preferences and pizza arrivals broadcasted to the entire community like a town crier in a medieval village, 10/10.
It started quietly enough. We walked in at the same time as another couple and waited patiently by the door. Apparently, we were a bit *too* patient, because a legendary woman in the booth closest to the entrance took matters into her own hands. She stood up, marched to the kitchen door, and bellowed into the abyss: **"JEFFREY, YOU HAVE CUSTOMERS UP HERE!"**
Enter an awkward young man whom I immediately assumed was the mythical Jeffrey (plot twist: he was not). He took our drink orders and yelled them back into the kitchen to the *actual* Jeffrey, concluding with a booming: **"WITH ICE!"**
Since I had explicitly asked for no ice, I corrected him and started walking to my table. Cut to three seconds later: a voice rings out from across the entire dining room—**"DO YOU WANT ICE IN THE OTHER DRINK?!"** By this point, the entire restaurant is pausing mid-chew, staring at me, waiting for the climax of the No-Ice Saga. I had no choice but to yell back across the establishment: **"NO ICE IN EITHER OF THEM!"** Glad we got the whole room on the same page.
**Side Note:** To this day, we are still not entirely sure if Jeffrey actually exists, or if he is just a figment of the staff's imagination. If he is real, we sincerely hope he is safe back there in the kitchen.
Shortly after, "Not-Jeffrey" brought our drinks and took our buffet requests before retreating to the back. Less than two minutes later, he burst through the doors with the energy of a man who had just discovered gold.
"YOU ARE IN LUCK!" he announced to the room.
Apparently, the manager was making a *special pizza crust* for us that normally doesn't even grace the buffet line. He said it loud enough for the back row to hear, but just to be sure, he proceeded to march to *every single table* in the restaurant to announce the exclusive crust experience we were all about to witness. My excitement was through the roof. My expectations were astronomical.
And bless his heart, he kept this exact same energy for the rest of our meal. He repeated the grand announcement process when our specific pizzas arrived, and did it *again* when the pasta bar was successfully refilled.
Honestly? The service was great, the staff genuinely cared, and getting fresh, custom pizza on a buffet is always a win. It was just spectacularly, hilariously awkward. Go for the food, stay for the live commentary, and please—pour one out for Jeffrey.
