I thought we had a pretty simple order, I’m gonna try to process what happened and come up with a scenario that makes sense. It’s 6:51 AM at the lodge and I am gonna treat myself to a coffee, but too much as to aggravate my gallbladder. I order myself a half decaf iced coffee with some pumpkin spice flavor (anytime after August 1st and before Christmas is Pumpkin season). I added a little liquid sugar, and some oat milk to avoid the fat from the milk (once again, to try not to aggravate the gallbladder).
Now, being the loving wife I am, I get my husband a breakfast sandwich as well. It’s a little pricey for us, but we’re on vacation, right? I walk the long hallways, pretty excited to get our treats. Down the flights of stairs (elevator is out of service), then the final stretch to the lobby. I can see it on the pickup shelf. I will add is was done quickly before I even got a text it was ready. Things were going quite well at that point, but…
As I walked that first stretch of hallway back to the stairs I notice how moist the bottom of the sandwich box has become in the palm of my hands. Curious as to why it would be so wet I opened the box. Toasted, no sir. This thing has barely an air dried crust feel on top.
Back to the Dunkin I go, where I was informed that it was toasted by a matter of factly young woman whose nonchalant attitude made me second guess letting them remake anything, much less order anything here ever again. Finally, I track the long journey back to the room with gem of my trip this morning, the iced coffee. First sip, mouth full of sugar crystals. Oh how the disappointment was felt in my soul. I took a chance, now I’m questioning everything about it. Did they use regular milk? It doesn’t taste like oat milk. Did they do the half decaf? I hope they made the rest correct, but the carelessness of the other mistakes and attitude of employees really leaves me wondering. I know why they have such a low rating on Google now, and really regret even taking a chance. Lesson learned.
