I have a serious concern about the way some businesses solicit tips at the drive-through window. Instead of clearly asking whether the customer wants to leave a voluntary tip, the employee pushes the credit card machine out the window and says something like, “Answer the question on the screen.” The problem is that the screen is often difficult to see from inside the vehicle, especially because of glare, angle, distance, or time pressure. The customer may not immediately understand that the “question” is actually a tip request. The “no tip” option is usually placed at the end or made less prominent than the suggested tip amounts. To me, this raises a real concern that the customer is being steered or pressured into leaving money they may not have intended to leave. A tip should be voluntary, informed, and clearly presented. If the screen design, wording, or physical setup makes the customer feel rushed, confused, embarrassed, or unable to easily choose “no tip,” then the practice may cross the line from normal tip solicitation into a potentially deceptive or unfair practice. As someone who works for tips, I also see a double standard. If I pressured a customer in that manner, obscured their ability to decline, or created confusion about whether an added payment was voluntary, I could be deactivated immediately. Businesses should be held to the same basic standard: customers should clearly know what they are being asked, should be able to see the full screen, and should have an equally visible and easy option to leave no tip. I will be looking into this practice at this Dunkin.

I have been at Dunkin’s several times in my life. My son gets the snack’n bacon about once a week. Today we went through and it was cold, not raw, yet not heated up. The grease was white and caked on. I’ve had burnt egg bite omelettes before from here as well. Today was the last straw. When you pay for bacon that cost nearly $5.00 and it doesn’t get ate because it’s not heated up/cooked-i felt like I needed to get my money back and return it or get another one for free. The lady at the window did argue with me and tell me that it was heated up. I said it might’ve been heated up earlier, but right now it’s cold feel the bag. It has grease on it that you can clearly see. She did not feel the bag she just said she couldn’t take. She ended up giving me a new one of course, a smaller portion which is fine. At least bacon was heated up and cooked so that we could actually eat it instead of going home and reheating it since this is a drive-through and food should be ready hot or room temperature as she called it. Before I spend my money again -around $20 I will clearly think about what to order- this makes me sad in so many ways that she argued about it. I may or may not be back. Let me know when the bacon is warmer than room temperature and doesn’t have white grease caked on.

Watered down, expensive ‘coffee’ at a location that causes nothing but traffic problems
