The Ritz on Union recently catered our daughter’s wedding. I can’t say enough great things. The food was outstanding. The service was excellent. They went way above and beyond all of our expectations. Anthony A. was a pleasure to work with he was knowledgeable, kind, professional. The service staff were also outstanding! They accommodated all of our needs and they all made my daughter’s wedding very special. Thank you to the Ritz and Homestyle Pizza.

I contacted the Ritz on Union a couple of weeks ago to plan a birthday lunch for a group of 12 - 14 ladies. Anthony was very accommodating and easy to work with. On the day of our celebration, the table was set and ready for our arrival. Lisa was our waitress, and she was wonderful! She gave us plenty of time to catch up with each other, but let us know that she was nearby whenever we were ready to order. With 12 ladies the orders were varied, but they were all served at the same time and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Lisa was kind enough to serve a cake that we brought in, candle and all. The Ritz on Union was the perfect setting for our birthday luncheon and we couldn't have asked for a more attentive server. We all agreed that we'll be back!

Our family were celebrating our son’s 22nd birthday and we’re going to see a show at Proctors theater and wanted to get dinner first. Never searched for a restaurant in Schenectady so wasn’t sure where to go. We wanted Italian since that’s our son’s favorite and ‘The ritz on union’ popped up. The menu on line looked pretty good so we gave it a shot and boy we are glad we did.
The dining room was a little smaller than I expected but was very tastefully decorated and looked like it was a new restaurant. Our server ‘CC’ was so much more than we could have asked for on our first visit. She was very welcoming and had an infectious personality. She went over some of the specialty drinks and highlighted a few in which my wife and son’s girlfriend delightfully ordered their drinks. My wife got a ‘Gummy-bear-tini’ which was incredible and yes, it was exactly what it sounds like.
My wife ‘Let it slip’ that it was my son’s birthday and ‘CC’ was all over it. She asked his name and what kind of cake he liked and we knew what that ment. We all ordered our dinner and ‘CC’ asked all our names as we did so (very personal and pleasantly unexpected). Not going to go into what we all ordered but I will say this, the food was incredible. All four of us were very impressed with the quality of the food. My son has a very big appetite and ended up taking a lot home.
After dinner the staff came out with a piece of cake (on the house) for our son and sang Happy Birthday. Even the owner who had the same name as our son, sang and wished him happy birthday.
I know I’m probably rambling but I don’t write reviews often but The Ritz on union, definitely deserves more than this because it was a very wonderful dining experience. We will definitely be making plans next time we are in town. Thank you ‘CC’ and staff

Nicole gave excellent service from start to finish. She was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything came out perfectly. She checked on us at the right times without being intrusive, kept our drinks refilled, and had a great attitude the entire meal. Nicole really made the experience enjoyable, and I’d definitely come back because of her service. Highly recommend asking for Nicole if you visit this restaurant!Nicole gave excellent service from start to finish. She was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything came out perfectly. 8:30 on a Saturday night you would think the restaurant might be busy but there was a couple people at the bar, one seated table, and my fiancé and I to be seated. Seating was easy but outside of the first few minutes getting our initial drinks the service was almost nothing. We ordered meatballs as an appetizer and two entrees which were a salmon risotto and chicken Alfredo. The app took between 15 to 20 minutes to come out for 4 meatballs with some sauce and that was the next time we saw the waiter and he didn’t even refill our drink that were all but ice at that point. Then a few minutes later brought a couple rolls of rolls which idk if they were supposed to be with the meatballs or where just something they thought we wanted. Finally after our appetizer was finished and about 15 more minutes went by he brought our entrees and took the dish from the appetizers at the same time. He wasn’t curious how it was but I’m just assuming that since he never asked and then offered to get me another drink. After about 5 minutes of seeing our food and he didn’t even comeback or check if everything came out good or if it tasted good my finance had to get up and ask if he could do something about the chicken Alfredo that was brought out. The noodles were clumped in almost a sheet on the bottom of the bowl along with several other clumps of under cooked and raw alfresco noodles. This was close to 40 minutes probably after the original order was placed. He did apologize and had it remade but we sat and shared the salmon risotto but we were appalled at the service at this point. We only had water and a side to drink with our meal and the water wasn’t refill even once throughout the entire stay and my side had been empty the second time long before the second chicken Alfredo was brought out. While we were waiting for the remade chicken Alfredo he came to offer us a complimentary desert lmao. I honestly feel like I was ready to walk out and maybe should be responsible to pay more than maybe half of what it was going to cost to eat there. The salmon risotto wasn’t meant to be shared so we finished that before we got the chicken Alfredo. It wasn’t even that good either to be honest. The second chicken Alfredo didn’t even taste as good as the first one and that had raw pasta in it. Honestly don’t think you could pay me to go to the place again and I think they are using grocery store goods for their food not fresh at all. The reason I think that is we got a desert since it was the only thing offered in place of the bad service. We got the strawberry shortcake which was from the freezer and after the meal we went to the local grocery store and found the same cake being sold at the supermarket. And when I say same I mean identical on the shelf at the bakery but less frozen. They charge 9 dollars for that piece of cake and I could have gotten a full cake for 18 at the supermarket. Total time spend close to 1 hour and 15 minutes without a single drink refill. Raw uncooked and probably store bought past. 33 dollars for that dish. Just overall the worst experience at a restaurant. I did tip but not well since I barely saw my waiter. Recommend never going here unless maybe you get lucky and someone in the building provides good service and you order the food that maybe would be prepared properly for you but I wouldn’t be hopeful. There’s honestly probably more but it’s painful how bad it was and we both had stomachaches throughout the night after this meal.
