  Was craving Mexican food for lunch. A friend told me about this place so I decided to give it a try. Service was great and prompt. Food was good and prices are good as well. They've been around a while and I can see why.

  We went from loyal regulars of 4–5 years to “never again” in one night. This used to be our go-to spot—a hidden gem with great margaritas, solid food, fair prices, and a relaxed atmosphere. Even through the challenges of late COVID, they consistently delivered. That’s why what happened on Cinco de Mayo was so disappointing. We arrived around 5:30 PM, expecting a wait, and were seated at 6:11 PM after about 30 minutes. From there, everything fell apart. We sat for 40 minutes with no server, no drinks, no acknowledgment. After checking with the host twice—and being brushed off—we finally got a waitress after nearly an hour. She apologized and told us there were only two servers working on Cinco de Mayo, which explains a lot about the night but also raises serious concerns about management. We ordered drinks and food, but tables seated after us were already being served. When our margaritas finally arrived 20 minutes later, they tasted like chemicals—completely undrinkable. We sent them back and were told the restaurant had switched tequila because they couldn’t get their usual one for the holiday. For longtime customers, the difference was obvious—and not in a good way. At nearly 2 hours in, we were told they were out of the pork dish my spouse ordered. My meal eventually arrived—and it was the wrong order. By that point, we were done. No real apology, no effort to fix things, not even an offer of water after sending drinks back. We left after nearly three hours—hungry, frustrated, and shocked at how far this place has fallen. This wasn’t just a busy night—it was a complete breakdown in service and management. It’s hard to imagine returning after an experience like this.

  There was nobody there which was a warning to which I should have paid attention. I travel a lot and like to stop by Mexican restaurants. This may have been the worst one I’ve ever been to. There appeared to have only been one employee there. Service was very good, but again, I was only one there. The margarita was watered down and had very little taste of alcohol or lime. It was without a doubt, the worst margarita I’ve ever had. Their salsa was decent, the chips seemed a little stale, and the portions were pretty small. Again, The employee who waited on me was pleasant and very nice, which is why I did not give it one star.

  Great experience at Los Gallos Mexican Grill. The food tastes authentic, with rich homemade flavors and generous portions. The service was fast and the staff was very friendly. The atmosphere is nice and perfect for going with family or friends. Definitely a place I’ll come back to whenever I’m craving Mexican food in Rochester.
