Let me start by saying I have NEVER written a negative public review. I always want to support local mom and pop businesses.
With that being said, my family of four and I were looking forward to trying Gus' as part of our family vacation. We walked in at 6:20 PM and the restaurant closes at 7 PM. All I wanted was a simple omelette. I ordered a coffee and the waitress told me they didn't have any. Theyre not allowed to make any at that time because of "waste" and the restaurant closing soon. I was floored.
I decided to order a decaf since there was a little leftover. The coffee was probably some of the worse coffee I've ever had. When I poured in the creamer, pieces of curled milk were floating in the coffee (see below).
While cooking the toast, I caught sight of a flame. See picture below at the charred object that was served as toast. My family's toast was fine. The potatoes tasted off, my father said that his were really hard.
I will say, the omelette itself wasn't too bad. It was fluffy and tasty. I did ask for spinach in mine and received onions, but at that point I was willing to let it go.
They began cleaning the floors while we were still there and that was our signal to leave. I don't want to blame any of the workers here, and the server was very nice, but I didn't eat my food and went home and had to cook my own food afterward. Gus', please at least serve your customers a cup of Joe.
Maps said open but the place was closed. Have the common courtesy to update your Maps hours.
Old school diner (& restaurant) at its best. Gotta get the Glazer Michigan dogs. Lots of parking. Good prices. (I could do without the Fox News)

I got seated right away. The prices were very reasonable. The gus dog hit the spot. The waitress brought out the food very quickly. Overall, it was good!
This place was probably awesome, in 1988, but now it's just sad. If you're looking for a dive bar vibe with mediocre food, then atleast it's priced okay. It wasn't busy when we visited, yet the service was still mediocre. The waitress seemed like she could careless about her job. The restaurant itself was in desperate need of a renovation or at the very least a deep cleaning, okay a very deep clean. Atleast the kitchen looked decent and the cook was friendly and seemed to be on her game witb what cheap ingredients she had to work with. I wouldn't recommend it unfortunately. Hope the owners put some love into what seems like a dying restaurant to save it.
