  A friend of mine and I wanted to enjoy our food slowly while listening to music, but there was a nasty waiter who came to clear our plates three times in just 20 minutes! Even though we had asked beforehand to split the bill, when it was time to pay, he said, "You can't do that because you're sitting at the same table!" He started getting worked up on his own, speaking in a fast mix of Latin and English, and yelled out something totally different: "If you charged your iPhone, you have to pay for that too!" I couldn't understand his heavily Latin-accented English at all, and since he wasn't calling the customers by their proper name and was using weird words, I was too scared to turn around. In the end, as soon as the gentlemanly and mild-mannered owner stepped out, he quieted right down. I've never experienced anything like this!! Including the time I was on a student visa, I've visited NY 13 times since 2000, and this is the lowest quality of staff I have ever felt. An incompetent employee like that is ruining the dream of a foreign owner who brought authentic jazz performances, delicious food, and opened a place here! At the counter, staff who had no interest in the music were talking loudly to each other the whole time, speaking down to customers and treating them roughly! I had actually heard rumors about that place, but turns out they were true! It was only my second time visiting, but I hear the place is closing down soon. In today's Manhattan NY, there are distortions everywhere. I hope they clear out the staff and reopen anew.

  Server was rude and literally gaslit me about my order, making me upset for the rest of the time… Patatas bravas had a little weird flavor, almost iron-y? Ambiance is cute, and I think servers are usually not that way, but my server was just especially confusingly rude to me…

  Nice Spanish restaurant with great food, live music on Thursdays and Sundays, and friendly, attentive staff.
