I recently came across Smashburger's Time Out Market location, and service was slow but still okay-ish there. I had to wait more than 20 minutes just to place an order with one person in front of me and the cashier just continually ignored us all with no updates.
It was made up for by how good the Vegan options were and how many they had to offer, I'm always tickled if there is one option at a restaurant but FOUR is amazing. (I will say, I'm unsure that they have a separate grill for the vegan options though as you can see right into the kitchen and it appears they don't, but I'm not stating that as fact because maybe there's something else I don't know) When I visited that location, I had the Oklahoma burger, and it left such a good impression that when I saw there was one on my way to Penn Station while dropping off a family member, I had my husband come meet me after work so he could have the euphoric experience that I had.
When we walked in, I went straight to the self service kiosk (there are 3 in the front, they were not maintained and very dirty, with no hand sanitizer option nearby, but okay I'm noticing this seems to be the norm for most restaurants now and I carry my own, but heads up.) I couldn't find any of the vegan options, to the point where I was second guessing myself on the name of the place, so I did a quick look on my phone and confirmed that yes... this is the spot. I walked around to the counter area where an employee was working and she immediately told me "you HAVE to use the self service", I told her that was fine but I needed to ask if they have the vegan options and where I'd find them. "Yeah they're on the menu, just pick what you want, we can make it for you" so, back to the kiosk I went. I looked through every single item, TWICE. My husband looked through every single item. I went through the burgers to see if it was a customizable option and it wasn't. My husband then went back to the employee, and he confirmed with her that they had the vegan options, again she said they're on the menu and to "just pick it", he asked if she could physically come and show him where they are at. She rolled her eyes and didn't even leave from behind the counter, she just came to the side and leaned over just to watch us scroll through again while continually telling us they're on the kiosk, which was no help at all. She let out a big sigh and said, "just come around to the register to tell me", but how are we supposed to know what the specialties are or what the options are if they're nowhere to be found, with no transparent pricing on these items either? We just walked out. What a complete waste of time and a frustrating experience made worse by an employee that just couldn't be bothered. What a joke.
There needs to be clear, labeled options if these are able to be served at all locations. I doubt I'll return though, honestly. Customer service was extremely lacking and super disappointing.
Editing to add: I got a notification that there was a reply to my review, but I can't see it, it may have been auto filtered by Google or deleted by the business, unsure.
