As the first uptown New York location for legendary chef Nobu Matsuhisa, we opened with much anticipation in the summer of 2005.Nobu's co-owners are his longtime partners: renowned restaurateur Drew Nieporent, Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro, and Hollywood film producer Meir Teper. The restaurant showcases Nobu's signature new style Japanese cuisine with classic dishes such as Tiradito Nobu Style and Black Cod Miso, and the hibachi table. The restaurant received three stars from the New York Times.

We went on a Monday night without a reservation and were seated within 15 minutes, which was a great start.
We ordered the edamame, yellowtail sashimi with jalapeño, rock shrimp, crab tacos, Wagyu tacos, tempura maki, crab maki, and the ribeye with honey yuzu truffle sauce.
My favorites were the yellowtail sashimi with jalapeño, the rock shrimp, Wagyu tacos, and the crab maki.
Unfortunately, the ribeye was very chewy and difficult to eat, which was disappointing.
The staff and servers were all friendly and attentive. Overall, the food was good, but I’ve had better dining experiences at Nobu DC, Newport, and Malibu.

Sadly I didn't take many pictures!
We had lunch at Nobu with friends and tried everything the place has to offer. Literally every signature dish: yellowtail jalapeño, black cod, rock shrimp tempura, new style sashimi, varied sushi and sashimi pieces (of which I did take a picture). And downed the lunch with a bottle of Matsushita's own Chardonnay from California which was a gentle pairing and very fairly priced!

I got food poisoning here after having dinner here last night & have been throwing up. The uni nigiri was the fishiest piece of sushi I’ve ever had in my life. The rest of the food was fine. I’ve been to Nobu locations all over but this was the worst. Insanely crowded with 10 minute delays with reservations.

We are visiting NY with family to celebrate my daughter’s birthday and Nobu was a spacial request from her.
We visited Nobu Cape Town couple of months ago and it was her favourite restaurant in that trip, so she wanted NY Nobu in the list.
Easy reservation through Google.
Nobu is a world class japanese restaurant: good food, good service, good ambiance.
During our visit they were not serving the Summer Tasting Menu as they ran out on some of the ingredients. But except for this the restaurant was flawless.
The food was excellent: good quality ingredients, good execution and good presentation.
We tried sushis, some hot dishes and dessert and all was served perfectly in a perfect timing. The prawns and lobster with Lemmon spicy sauce was my favorite.
Service was attentive and warm.
Ambience is also a plus as the restaurant salon is gorgeous in a double hight space with a sober and refined decoration.
All in all it was a great experience. Pricewise it is not cheap (as any other restaurant in midtown) but far from being on the most expensive list. It is a great value for the buck in my opinion.
Highly recommended if you want a great Japanese food experience in NY!!

Gran experiencia.
