  The security guy working here needs to find a new job. We were here late Thursday night on May 7th with some friends visiting NYC for the first time. We approached the kiosks to order dessert when one of our friends walked toward the bathroom. Someone was standing in front of the bathrooms and winked at her, so she turned around and walked back to us. We weren’t sure if this guy was a security guard for the restaurant or just someone off the street being weird. We proceeded to sit and chat when this guy approached us and told us that this location doesn’t tolerate racism and that they’ve had a lot of issues with racism here. He said people were uncomfortable with our conversation and that we needed to stop talking. We were honestly too stunned to speak because we were completely caught off guard. We had no idea what he was talking about and were still confused about who he even was, but assumed he was some type of security guard. We tried to laugh off the interaction, but he continued to stare at us and lurk around the corner watching us. It was very uncomfortable. He then came up again and told us we needed to leave, and that we were racist. At that point we were over it, so we got up to leave while everyone around us looked confused. On our way out, we approached the counter to let them know their security guard was calling us racist and making us uncomfortable. The lady at the counter got the manager, but while this was happening, he came up behind us and suddenly changed his story, saying, “It’s policy that everyone has to leave after 30 minutes.” I replied, “You told us we were being racist when we’re not.” He denied saying it as we were walking out the door, saying, “Nobody here heard me say you were racist,” when a couple other guests in the restaurant chimed in and said, “Yes you did.” The whole interaction was honestly unsettling because it made no sense and felt completely out of nowhere. It felt less like an actual policy issue and more like we were being singled out. I’ve lived in New York for four years and have never experienced anything like this. It’s disappointing that this was part of my friends’ first impression of NYC.

  Somber feeling, looking at the Memorial for the three thousand people who died. Be sure to go to the Museum which has a lot of details about the tragedy. You need to budget at least three hours for the museum if you don't want to rush.

  I get that it’s McDonald’s, but the employee lady with glasses was incredibly rude. I ordered via the app, and noticed an order ready for pick with a water bottle so I knew it was mine. I got her attention, gave her the order number and said that I thought it was ready in the pick up area. She took one look at my order number and said “it wasn’t ready” without checking the pick up ready food. I waited 15 minutes until she happened to check on the ready pick-up food and turns out IT WAS my order. I told her “I told you that was my order and you didn’t bother to check” and she replied “ok”. So now I’m eating cold McDonald’s. Thanks!
