This place was amazing from the food to the atmosphere if you have just arrived in new york this is a place you need to visit me and my dad loved our food so much only complaint was that they added pepperoni to it when I order cheese but it was still the best pizza I have ever had.

Johns was brilliant. We were recommended by Jo at the Intercontinental Hotel & it didn’t disappoint. Pizza was fantastic, then John’s Garlic Rolls were also a firm hit!! We went steady sharing a pizza between 4 which was perfect for 4 (2 adults & 2 teens). Serve was brilliant and we will definitely try and get back during our stay.

John’s Pizzeria of Times Square is a super convenient spot if you’re looking for somewhere to eat before or after a Broadway show! Be sure to arrive early because there’s typically a 25-minute or longer wait, depending on the size of your party.
John’s is always on my list of must-visit restaurants whenever I’m in New York. The pizza is amazing, and my favorite things to order are the garlic bread with cheese and the ravioli with Alfredo sauce. Everything I’ve had has been delicious!
If you’re visiting the Times Square area, definitely add John’s Pizzeria to your list—you won’t regret it!

A Soulful Slice of History in the Heart of Times Square
Stepping out of the relentless hustle and bustle of Times Square and into John’s Pizzeria feels like escaping into another era. The space itself is breathtaking—a gorgeous historic church beautifully transformed into a pizzeria—but it's the story behind it that truly makes it special. Knowing the history of a single mother taking a massive leap of faith to build this establishment gives the entire dining experience a profound sense of purpose.
The atmosphere is unmatched. With massive coal-burning ovens roaring on either side of the restaurant, you get the warm, nostalgic feeling of hanging out right in the kitchen with Momma. Watching the pizza artists meticulously craft each unique request is a show in itself, and the food is entirely worth it. The pizza doesn't just taste good; it literally tastes like the majesty of a mother's heart and soul baked into every single slice.
It was such a phenomenal part of our trip that we even bought T-shirts to bring back home to Texas so we can always remember the moment. If you want incredible pizza with an atmosphere that feels like home, John’s is the absolute must-visit spot in NYC!

Staff was friendly and attentive - want to mention that up-front. Said it would be a 25 min wait but was more like 40. To give them credit, two large groups left and that moved things along quickly at that point.
First, the caveats - it was the day after the World Cup final so I'm going to assume this might have had something to do with our experience. Maybe they were low on stock and had to cut some corners and use some lower-quality ingredients as a result?
We were surprised by the poor quality of the food. We ordered a margherita pizza, fried ravioli, Bruschetta, and chicken Alfredo. There were issues with each dish:
- Fried Ravioli - seemed under-cooked - like it was made from a frozen supply but not fully done
- Bruschetta - bread seemed stale - despite being toasted
- Margherita pizza - something was off with the basil - looked wilted a bit, tasted like it had gone bad (we picked off the basil)
- Chicken Alfredo - chicken was rubbery, sauce seemed like a pool of thickened milk, lacked flavor
Anyway - hate to be negative. We're generally not a picky family. We were disappointed given the wait and reputation.
