I am half Jamaican, and I'm saying this to add some credibility to my review.
I got the Pepper Shrimp, Curry Goat, Jerk Chicken, and Mac and Cheese. The first thing I will say is to ask them to make the dishes spicer. This will not taste like how your family makes it at home, not for the wrong flavor but just because it it doesn't have that strong punch Jamaican food is known for. However, it is seasoned well.
Pepper Shrimp - This is the best thing I had. Noticeably above average
They have a really good texture, and it's the right flavor, just lacking that kick. The first few bites of the shrimp should sting you with that intense pepper flavor. Remember, it's flavor and not just spice.
Curry Goat - This is good. Slightly above average.
Weirdly enough, it's kind of sweet, but my friend didn't detect it, so maybe just me. Again, Curry goat needs that PUNCH to it's flavor. It should taste almost overseasoned. Maybe cut up some tomatoes as a little bonus if you get it with white rice (as you should)
Jerk Chicken - Kind of weak. I think below average.
This tasted like a chicken breast that was cooked with jerk seasoning. Not really like Jerk Chicken. I wouldn't order it again from here. It doesn't taste bad though, a non Jamaican would probably like it
Mac and Cheese - Good, almost.
There's always the issue of Mac and Cheese at a restaurant looking BEAUTIFUL but not having any flavor. This was the first time I saw almost the opposite. The flavor is good (could be more), but it's just underbaked!!! They were almost there! If they kept it in the oven longer it would have been definitely above average Mac and Cheese.
Overall, this is a good restaurant to visit. I will be going here again soon maybe. But, give your servers some guidance. Get them to make your food spicer, decently spicer, and to jam pack with more flavor. Also to bake the Mac longer. Their recipes are worth it they just need a little bit of a push.
Oh and they make their rice and peas with coconut milk if you were wondering (I never ordered it though)
