What happened at this restaurant was deeply disappointing and unacceptable.
When my family arrived, my cousin asked multiple times for a table for three and was ignored by the hostesses, Madison and Jasenia. We were eventually seated, but after that we waited roughly 30 minutes without service, even while other tables that were seated after us were acknowledged and served first.
Then a server from across the resturant (From a different section) approached us and commented on how it was weird we weren't being served. She kindly stated she would figure things out for us.
When our server, Brittney, finally approached the table, her tone was abrupt and dismissive. She immediately demanded we order. When my mother tried to ask a question about the menu, she was cut off and told again to order. At that point, after already feeling ignored and disrespected, I asked to speak with a manager.
Unfortunately, the manager, Piper, did not meaningfully address what had happened. Rather than seriously considering the concerns we raised, the focus quickly shifted to whether we were still willing to place an order. By then, I was done letting my family be so shamelessly disrespected and we decided to leave.
What made this especially troubling was the clear discrepancy between how my family was treated and how other guests were treated around us. My mother and cousin both have accents, and we are of Asian descent. Based on what we directly experienced that evening, I left with the strong impression that those factors played a role in the dismissive treatment we received. And that is not a conclusion I make lightly.
What stood out even more was that the staff’s attitude seemed to change once they learned that I am a West Point Cadet. That only made the earlier treatment more concerning, because basic courtesy should not depend on who a customer is, how they speak, or whether they have some title that suddenly makes staff take them seriously.
I am not interested in an ai generated apology. I want accountability, and I want meaningful change in how customers are treated at this establishment. I have already begun reaching out to regional management, and that process is ongoing.
I am also considering recording this incident via DOJ Civil Rights Department, New York AG, and Orange County Human Rights Commision. While I understand neither may lead to immediate action, creating a documented record of these concerns could make any future investigation easier to pursue.
