- JPJannah N. PattersonAug 10, 20261.0I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at the Dunkin’ in Massena. I requested that my drink be made a specific way, the same way I have ordered it at numerous other Dunkin’ locations, and was told they could not make it that way because they have to follow Dunkin’ standards. When I mentioned that every other Dunkin’ Donuts I’ve been to accommodates my request, I was told they must not be adhering to Dunkin’ Donuts standards. To me, that explanation didn’t make sense—less ice and extra milk doesn’t sound like a “standard” issue, it sounds like a simple customization. It honestly felt more like this particular location is choosing not to accommodate normal customer preferences rather than following any clear corporate rule. What I don’t understand is why this seems to be the only Dunkin’ location where my request cannot be accommodated. I’ve ordered from Dunkin’ locations throughout New York, New Jersey, Virginia, and elsewhere, and I have never had an issue with having my coffee made according to my preference. I also don’t believe the person working the drive-thru and taking orders should be put in the position of having to explain this policy to customers after they are already trying to place an order. If this location has a strict policy that drinks will only be made according to specific Dunkin’ standards and customer customization requests will not be accommodated, then put a sign at the drive-thru menu clearly stating that. Customers should know before ordering. That being said, I was also disappointed by how the situation was communicated. The employee seemed almost happy to tell me that my request would not be accommodated rather than trying to offer a solution or provide a positive customer-service experience. If a customer is paying for a drink and the requested customization can reasonably be made with ingredients the store already carries, I believe the customer’s preference should be accommodated. I will be keeping my receipt and contacting Dunkin’ corporate regarding my experience and to get clarification on whether this is actually Dunkin’s corporate policy or simply how this particular location chooses to handle customized orders.
