    I had a very disappointing experience at 16 Handles today. I walked in with my service animal, and the employee working at the cashier immediately told me I was not allowed inside because of the dog. I calmly explained that service animals are legally permitted, but he continued insisting that I leave. Even though I knew I had the right to remain there, I chose to respect the fact that he clearly did not want the animal around and decided to take my business elsewhere. What bothered me most was not just the lack of understanding of the law, but how unprofessional and dismissive the employee was throughout the interaction. This business should properly train employees on how to handle service animal situations respectfully and legally. This experience was embarrassing, frustrating, and completely unacceptable. I will not be returning. I appreciate the response, but your reply actually confirms that your staff still does not understand the law regarding service animals. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), businesses are not allowed to require “documentation” or certification for a service animal. In fact, there is no federally recognized documentation required for service dogs at all — as ridiculous as that may sound. A restaurant or food establishment also does not get an exception to this rule. Employees are only legally permitted to ask two questions: 1. Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability? 2. What task has the dog been trained to perform? That is it. I was respectful during the interaction and even chose to leave rather than escalate the situation, despite knowing I was being denied access improperly. Allergies also do not override ADA protections. I strongly recommend management educate staff on federal service animal laws moving forward so this does not happen to someone
