I wanted a splurge after a long day and hadn't had Indian food in ages. I did a search and ordered from Red Chilli. At first, it was a little more than I planned to spend, but went for it (good food costs money, after all) and am so glad I did.
It was suuuuper-yummy. The Chicken Kali Mirch was rich but not heavy. The chicken chunks were perfectly cooked and the spices were wonderfully complex. The Kalonji naan was fluffy and tasty (I'm a kalonji freak) and the papadum was light and crispy.
And though I'm utterly stuffed, I've still got leftovers! Yay for Indian food for breakfast! 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
I’ve had many Vindaloos but the Goat Vindaloo here, best by far. Goat was very fresh and stewed just right, not tough nor too soft. The vindaloo was not strong on vinegar nor oily which is honestly hard to find. Spice was a building kind of spice that added depth to the dish. Overall, new favorite spot, will be coming again! Also, our waiter Dominic and restaurant owner Arun were absolute delights! (apologies if I spelled the names wrong)
I was disappointed with my experience at Red Chilli. The lachha paratha was undercooked and raw in the middle, making it difficult to enjoy. The butter chicken was unusually sweet, while the saag paneer was much spicier than expected and took away from that actual taste we were expecting from a shag paneer. The Blue Lagoon mocktail was decent, and the mango mocktail was actually quite good. The cheese naan was also one of the better items we ordered.
Unfortunately, the overall meal was disappointing enough that we didn’t even take the leftovers home. The food felt heavily adapted for a non-desi palate and lacked the authentic flavors many South Asians would expect from an Indian halal restaurant. If you’re looking for traditional, authentic Indian cuisine, this may not be the place for you. But it is the one of the few upscale halal places to dine at in Jackson heights. Heads up they do have an active bar.
The food at Red Chilli was excellent. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that our breads arrived 10–12 minutes after the main course was served, despite reminding the staff 4–5 times.
We ordered a few mocktails, and they were fantastic. The Paneer Bhurji was the best I’ve ever had—rich, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The Butter Chicken was excellent as well, with a delicious, well-balanced gravy. I especially loved the Lachha Paratha; it was the best I’ve had so far.
The Falooda Kulfi was a great way to end the meal. Aside from the delay with the breads, everything else was outstanding. I would definitely recommend Red Chilli and look forward to visiting again.

Unsure if it was just an off day but did not have a great experience… first time at Red chilli and we were very excited to try an upscale Indian restaurant.
Walking in the ambiance is super nice and the decor and lighting is very put together. They do get their meat from Hal & Al so it is Zabiha (although they do serve alcohol)
The rest of the experience however was very subpar… food took 20+ minutes to arrive even though we were the only ones there.
Chicken seekh kebabs very dry, lamb chops while very tender also dry but better than the seekh kebabs, the butter chicken was overall creamy but not much flavor at all. The sweet lassi was great however the mango lassi was essentially just the sweet lassi with mango flavor?
The portions were on the smaller side in my opinion for the price. They also have a 20% service charge for parties of 4 or more fyi. Everyone was very nice and they did give us a free appetizer as the wait took very long. Despite this however, I don’t think I’ll be back.
