In the heart of Farmingdale, on Main Street is this Vespa. It's a huge place and generally walk-ins are welcome. All in all food is fine. The stuffed mushrooms and the Mediterranean fish fillet were good. The Chicken rollatine was average. The problem is they make too many items to perfect any one of them. Also, the place is pricey! Dinner for 2 with 1 drink each, costed us around $138.

1. When was the last time you had a sandwich that you felt didn’t have enough meat in it? I can’t think of a time I’ve ever thought this. Ever. Before now. That was my steak sandwich today. It was delicious, but the bread was 75% of the sandwich.
2. Our waitress, Marta, forgot to put our pizza order in. No apology. Just, “I never put it in.” The decent thing to do, by any normal person, would be to say sorry and ask if we still wanted it (we had finished our meal, so were OK with skipping it)
3. The check took a really long time to come. We had boxed up our food and finished our drinks. It wasn’t that busy in there, but maybe I was pissed off because of the above.
4. The fig martini was dangerously delicious

Service was top tier! Jess & Marissa were awesome. The chicken parm was some of the BEST I’ve had in a very long time. I will be returning!

So I have mixed feelings about Vespa Italian Kitchen & Bar — but overall, I definitely didn’t think it was bad.
First off, the atmosphere was incredible. The place is very cute, comfortable, and homely — exactly what you’d want from an Italian restaurant. The bar area was beautiful, classy, and extremely clean. Same with the bathrooms. I was honestly surprised by how much space the restaurant had once you got inside. Opening the windows gave the whole place a great vibe, the music selection was excellent, and the brick-fire pizza oven in the back was an awesome touch that really showed the quality and authenticity they’re aiming for.
We had to start with the pizza because we wanted to see if the brick oven hype was real — and it absolutely was. The pizza was a 10/10. I would genuinely go back just for that alone. The sauce was amazing, not overly sweet, and everything tasted fresh and high quality.
For my entrée, I ordered one of their more popular pasta dishes. The portion size was definitely generous, but personally, I didn’t think the quality completely matched the price point. I’ve been to a lot of Italian restaurants across Long Island that serve food equal to or better (not including the pizza) for a little less money. To me, the pasta felt more in the $22–$25 range rather than the $30+ range. That being said, the food absolutely did not taste bad at all — it was still enjoyable, just a little pricey for what it was. Other people may feel the pricing is completely fair.
The service also had its ups and downs. Our server was incredible — sweet, calming, attentive, and she gave me a recommendation I genuinely loved. I’d ask for her again every time. The only downside was the long wait for the food and an even longer wait for the check.
Overall though, I really can’t complain too much. The pizza alone is worth going back for, the atmosphere is fantastic, and I’ll definitely return to try something else.
