So I have mixed feelings about Vespa Italian Kitchen & Bar — but overall, I definitely didn’t think it was bad.
First off, the atmosphere was incredible. The place is very cute, comfortable, and homely — exactly what you’d want from an Italian restaurant. The bar area was beautiful, classy, and extremely clean. Same with the bathrooms. I was honestly surprised by how much space the restaurant had once you got inside. Opening the windows gave the whole place a great vibe, the music selection was excellent, and the brick-fire pizza oven in the back was an awesome touch that really showed the quality and authenticity they’re aiming for.
We had to start with the pizza because we wanted to see if the brick oven hype was real — and it absolutely was. The pizza was a 10/10. I would genuinely go back just for that alone. The sauce was amazing, not overly sweet, and everything tasted fresh and high quality.
For my entrée, I ordered one of their more popular pasta dishes. The portion size was definitely generous, but personally, I didn’t think the quality completely matched the price point. I’ve been to a lot of Italian restaurants across Long Island that serve food equal to or better (not including the pizza) for a little less money. To me, the pasta felt more in the $22–$25 range rather than the $30+ range. That being said, the food absolutely did not taste bad at all — it was still enjoyable, just a little pricey for what it was. Other people may feel the pricing is completely fair.
The service also had its ups and downs. Our server was incredible — sweet, calming, attentive, and she gave me a recommendation I genuinely loved. I’d ask for her again every time. The only downside was the long wait for the food and an even longer wait for the check.
Overall though, I really can’t complain too much. The pizza alone is worth going back for, the atmosphere is fantastic, and I’ll definitely return to try something else.

I’ve been eating Vespa before loved the food and drinks. I went with my family after a funeral on a very rainy Saturday. All 7 of us around 3:30 was just looking for a place to regroup ourselves with a drink or two. The girl at reception would not give us a table said because we were not ordering from the kitchen! The restaurant was quiet because of the bad weather and the time of the day. All 7 of us including 2 teenagers were told to sit at the bar. We could have left to another place but because it was raining and we already parked 3 cars so we stayed. We ordered desserts, a bottle of wine, a few cocktails and ice teas for the teens we had the entire bar because it was empty just liked the rest of the restaurant. The bartender told us it’s a very quiet day and will remain quiet the rest of the day because there were games (basketball playoffs and baseballs). We left in less than a hour we did not feel we were welcome! This is why I am giving them a bad review. Don’t let a young college look alike standing at the door in charge of the guests!
