  My wife surprised me with a pre bday weekend in Canandaigua. Unfortunately despite the Sand Bar being in such nice looking place the food and service were far from great. My wife ordered a “Miami Vice” which was supposed to be a frozen cocktail. The server brought the drink to the table “sorry I know is supposed to be frozen but is not” and left it there. This drink looked like a cup of juice. Undrinkable. My wife request for it to be changed to a glass of wine instead. The wine was flat. As if the beginning was not disappointing already they forgot to mention my bday. We then proceeded to order the food. The appetizers listed hummus, pretzel…..seem rather odd for a lake shore themed restaurant so we decided to go straight to the main courses. I ordered the asian inspired salad with grilled chicken. My wife ordered the steak with fries. Food presentation was decent. My food tasted like it had arrived from the wegmans meals to go. Some items room temp other items cold. The grilled chicken was cold, tasteless and diced poorly. The brown rice was warm , the edamame was fridge cold and son on. The steak looked dry despite being cooked “medium” the fries were crispy in the outside and slightly undone in the inside. The Brussel sprouts were charred to the point if being inedible This was not the bday celebration that my wife was aiming for. Wont be returning to the Sand Bar.

  In my opinion, Sand Bar isn't worth a stop. We've been to all levels of restaurants around the USA and world, but Sand Bar falls short. While the harbor view looking down Canandaigua Lake is beautiful, the service at Sand Bar is very slow and the food is only okay. Our server, Morgan, was doing the best she you could but seems to be at the mercy of a slow bar and kitchen. It took about 30 minutes to get drinks, about 45 minutes to get served appetizers. Again, food was just okay. What Sand Bar does have going for it is a view most other places can't offer.

  Super charming area. Great landscaping & lots of parking. A little hard to find the Sand Bar as the signs are small print. You walk thru one building & back outside & around back is the restaurant. It was overcast when we arrived, so we sat outside, but under the awning. We ordered some hummus (not pictured) & I got a Blue Whale drink that actually comes in a blue whale cup. Then I ordered the New York Strip & husband got the chicken rigatoni. They had a pretty limited menu. Steak wasn't seasoned very well, but the Brussels sprouts were delicious. Husband's pasta looked yummy, but I didn't sneak a bite. It really started to rain while we were there & I got dripped on from a gap in the awning. We had a different waitress at the start of the meal that was a little more attentive than the one we finished the meal with. I am sure on a dry & warmer day, we could have sat there & enjoyed the evening a little longer. Also, the marble/granite floor was pretty slippery when wet.

  Had a reservation for the day after labor day (today) at 1 pm to meet another couple for lunch. I received a reservation cancellation notice at 10 PM last NIGHT stating that they are no longer serving lunch on Monday or Tuesday starting today. They said they were sorry for the late notice but they were too busy to notify us sooner over the Labor Day Weekend. What outrageously bad management does this place have? Not to worry....nobody in my family will ever consider this venue for ANYTHING!

  Had a reservation for 14 people at 615pm on a Saturday night. We arrived at 6:20. We weren’t seated until 7pm. Didn’t get drinks until 745pm. Had to ask for silverware and napkins. Very slow service but great views. Food tasted good but questionable quality; items noted to have hair in it.
