One of the best Yemeni restaurants in New York City. I highly recommend it. They serve complimentary soup, salad and tea. The price range is around $20-$70 depending on the dish ordered and number of people but it's totally worth it.
My only concern is that sometimes parents will bring their kids and let them run around or even stand up on the tables with little-to-no supervision or care (I've witnessed this a couple of times). The waiters look like they want to do something about it but they don't intervene out of respect to their customers. If you have kids, please be sure to keep them in check. It's disrespectful to any establishment.

Best Restaurant ever! Amazing music, people, and atmosphere. Gigantic portion sizes so perfect for sharing and birthday parties. My favorite food in Brooklyn Heights. And their tea is to die for!

I hardly ever reflect on my experiences at restaurants or leave reviews but because of what I recently experienced with my friends here I felt the need to.
Initially when 3 of my friends and I entered the restaurant, we were not greeted or welcomed in by any of the staff. I observed that even though it took a while for the servers to bring us menus/waters/etc., that they did not think twice or hesitate to do this for other customers.
We proceeded to put in orders for food. Within the time that we were waiting for our food, that the servers were able to take orders from more recent customers, and plenty of them received our food a lot faster than we did.
I love eating Yemeni food, and appreciate the complimentary bread/soup/salad that they serve us. While it wasn’t a big deal, I noticed that servers would constantly check back in with other tables to provide refills for the bread/soups/salads. They hardly ever checked on our tables to see if we were alright.
Additionally, we were told to get up and get whatever beverage we wanted from the coolers, while other servers brought the customers the drinks themselves.
Even though the food was delicious (I had ordered lamb with hummus and my friend ordered chicken kebab) I felt like they held little regard for us as paying customers, just like anyone else. It took multiple tries to get their attention and to ask for things. I feel like a customer shouldn’t put in those positions and I felt very uncomfortable.
I don’t want to racialize the entire experience but my friends and I are black. We were probably the only black customers in the store, and I personally felt as if my friends and I were being discriminated against.
The servers were very swift when it came to giving the check. The entire experience felt as if we weren’t ever welcome, and they were just waiting for us to leave the store. While I have to admit that the food was delicious, the service was horrible. I unfortunately will not come back to eat here again.

I visited your restaurant today and was very disappointed with the food quality, specifically the Ruz Zurbian (رز زربيان).
As someone who appreciates Yemeni cuisine, I felt that this dish does not represent the authentic taste or cultural value it is known for. It was unclear, poorly prepared, and did not reflect what Zurbian is supposed to be.
This is especially concerning because your restaurant is well-known and represents Yemeni food to many people in New York. Many customers may form their understanding of Yemeni cuisine based on their experience here.
I am not concerned about the money—I care about quality and authenticity. I hope you take this feedback seriously and work on improving the food to better respect Yemeni culture and your restaurant’s reputation.
Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not return. However, I hope to see improvements for the sake of future customers.

At first we walked in and the waiter told us to just sit where ever was available. Then as soon as we sat down we were automatically given appetizers which was this brown soup/broth accompanied by a big burnt pita bread, hot sauce, and water without even asking us what appetizer or drinks we wanted. Then about 20 mins later after we ordered, the waiter came with our order and to our surprise the “lamb chops” that we ordered came as 5 burnt and hard cubes of meat accompanied with dry rice and a flavorless stew slapped on top. The presentation was not pleasant to be nice. Another one of our orders was grilled chicken that came burnt and was very flat. On top of that, another order which was the mixed grill came as two skewers, one with chicken and one with lamb, and they were both burnt and hard. They were not tender at all. The cherry on top was the last order where it was a big chunk of chewy lamb that tasted like turkey and was very dry. I would not recommend this place at all as the customer service is very poor and the food is flat out nasty. It is too pricey for what its worth. We paid 165 dollars for four plates which is outrageous. NEVER AGAIN.
