    I’ve been ordering multiple times a week since this place opened, so I think I’m well-equipped to review. I thought it was great at first, but has devolved into complete BS overtime - exactly like the BS responses to the reviews cause nothing improves. 1. There is zero consistency in the smoothie prep. It can range from tasting great, mediocre, and like hot trash. And mediocre & hot trash happen often enough to be a problem. Sometimes the smoothie is the consistency of juice. I’ve had to ask for orders to be remade countless times. 2. Service is just stupid. It takes forever, and have waited 30+ minutes for orders before. You have pick up shelves and don’t use them. So people are standing around waiting for their orders that are supposed to be ready for pick-up but it’s being held hostage behind the counter while no one acknowledges the people standing around. Speak? The app is solely to funnel orders in. It doesn’t tell you if ingredients are in stock or an actual pick up estimate, just a generic window that most times isn’t met. You can’t cancel your order. You have to contact the cafe. There is no actual way to contact cafes because generic number is given. So, you go to the store to get a refund, and be told they cant do refunds. And I’ve insisted every single time, cause what do you mean? 3. The messed-up, half- burnt toasted snack roll that was still served and I picked up. If you messed up something…why wouldn’t you remake it? 4. The straw that broke the camels back. This location closes at 10pm, as advertised and posted. Recently, on multiple occasions, they’ve been claiming they close earlier than they actually do. So today, me and another individual that placed PAID FOR orders through the app (as allowed), are being told they closed at 9:30pm for why our orders were not prepared / are not ready for pickup. I pressed for my refund, the other person unfortunately did not. Would love to see this place hopefully improve, but I’m over it.

    Really enjoyed my experience at Tropical Cafe! 😊 Everyone working was so kind, attentive, and seemed to genuinely care about doing their job well. Even though it wasn’t busy, the cashier was still very attentive and patient with me while I was taking forever to decide. The employee who brought out my order was also so sweet. My two boys were driving me crazy while we waited and I was on a work call, and he was kind enough to give them stickers ! It was such a small gesture, but as a mom, those little things really mean a lot. Thank you to the whole team for being so welcoming and putting care into your work. Great customer service definitely deserves to be recognized! 🌴

    Talk about some wait time, these people I don’t know where they get their customers services training bc this is madness like literally they now welcoming and you wait forever for online order when you go pick it up, what is the point of order online when literally, this is some bs I swear

    Of course the selections on the menu is great. HOWEVER, there should be a manager on sight with the workers. Not just 1 person(cashier/store associate/barista)taking 10 peoples orders. That does seem right especially for a place of business. A food chain restaurant at that. Tropical Smoothie on Ave D near BJ’s get it together. Treat the employees and the environment right! 8/15/2026 — Marissa should get a bonus please the pay of whoever wasn’t here from 7am to 8:30am.

    I was very disappointed when I walked in to the location. The food prep area was filthy (food all over the floor). The walls looked filthy, as well as the counter tops, the flooring in the seating area. The profanity in the music and coming from the employees mouths all lacked professionalism. Unfortunately, I blame the owner for not setting a standard. These are kids. Who hired and trained them? Young adults need to be trained and held accountable by MANAGEMENT AMD OWNWRS. This is subpar service all around in an African American neighborhood intentionally I believe. The Flatbush ave location is much better because it’s being gentrified( the neighborhood). I didn’t finish my sandwich because of the visual I had walking in to the establishment and because it was barely toasted and the cheese was barely melted. The sandwich was like warm with one slice of bacon on it. I paid over $35 for my meal and can’t eat it. This is embarrassing. Management has to retrain the staff and set a higher standard of operating. The smoothie was delish! The food, not so much.
