  Chicken was breaded on the outside and gooey/undercooked inside. No seasoning. The beans tasted sour and the pecans pie was stale and nasty. I’ve had better gas station pies than this. This was such a disappointment. The south would never 👎

  A genuinely good, perhaps the best, take on soul food/southern food I’ve had in NYC. Honestly New York’s soul food and southern food are typically terrible and none of the famous spots serve anything resembling the quality of what Black and southern families have eaten for generations. But here, Every item was excellent! Crispy chicken that’s not over seasoned and buttery biscuits were the highlights of the mean. But the real star is the dessert!! I can’t stop thinking about the crust on the apple pie! The cinnamon rolls were also perfect. On top of that the service was truly fantastic. Every person I interacted with was pleasant and helpful. My server seemed to genuinely care that we enjoyed our visit and he did a ton to make us happy. I wish I knew his name - tall Black man with glasses - because he deserves a raise! This place definitely lives up to the hype.

  Chicken sandwich is excellent! Has Avocado and bacon and is a very generous portion. Catfish, biscuits, mashed potatoes and cookies are also delicious.

  Great service but food was not great, especially for the price. Chicken biscuit was good, nice flavor, but the chicken & waffles was subpar and pricey for the portion size (only 2 small pieces of chicken). The waffles had no flavor, the strawberries on top were soaked in syrup, not fresh. The mac & cheese side was undercooked and not cheesy, too watery, and $8 was way too expensive for the size and quality.

  We'd noticed Pies 'n' Thighs around for a while, so when we found out they'd opened a new spot on Flatbush Avenue, our group decided to stop in and finally check it out. It happened to be a pretty rough weather day, but we were still able to snag seating quickly, which was a nice surprise. The vibe inside had a bit of a diner feel to it, casual and laid-back, nothing over the top, which honestly worked in its favor. As someone who eats vegetarian to pescatarian, I was glad to see there was something for me too, since they had fish on the menu alongside their fried chicken. The food came out good, and the service was solid throughout our visit. Overall it was a really pleasant, the kind of place that doesn't try too hard but still delivers. Definitely a spot worth checking out if you're in the area.
