My new favorite cafe! The food is amazing (Martin is the best!!). It’s hard to find clean, healthy eating in bushwick so this is a gem. The service is exceptional and the space is perfect for a work day. Really enjoy this neighborhood spot.

I would like to believe that on a different day my experience would have been different, but on this day there was one singular guy taking and preparing all orders, and that is not nearly close to being staffed enough for the number of in person and online orders he was preparing. When I arrived I waited for a good 10 minutes or more at the counter before my order could even be taken. I then waited another 40 minutes (give or take a few) for my food to be ready. The same one guy brought my food to me, which I’m sure did not help with time management on other orders. He did apologize for assigning me my eggs over easy (I was not asked, and I would never choose over easy eggs but tbh at this point I felt bad for him so I decided one texturally unpleasant egg experience would not kill me). It was as I was using my toast to try to disguise that my eggs were over easy that I realized my toast was quite thoroughly burnt on one side. Whatever, I’m too hungry and I’ve waited too long to pitch a fit about this. And again, he’s juggling all of this by himself. What even could he do at that point? He’s already drowning in orders with customers spending 10-15 minutes waiting to even get their order taken, and several of them gave up and left after waiting that long, with more coming in online all the time and making that annoying twinkle sound. This place could be good but it needs adequate staffing. There was one lady in an apron who did come bus a couple of tables at one point but did not appear to be helping in any other meaningful way. Good luck to you.
Edited after owner response: correct. I do feel bad that your employee was in that situation. I do not feel bad for a restaurant or whatever management allowed that staffing situation to occur. Had there been other staff on hand I gladly would have addressed my problems with someone on site, but I wasn’t interested in making this one employee’s day harder or causing him to get further behind. That is the entire point. I think this response of yours is an interesting way to handle feedback, but I’m chalking it up to you having a personal situation that’s causing you to respond in a way that does not represent your typical standards.
